Coilover installation!!!

Hi guys,
I had searched everywhere online to get a step by step instructions to install coilovers but couldn't get much info. Unfortunately I have no idea how to perform but I have heard they are pretty time consuming job for first timers.

I'm getting Fortune 500 w/ SWIFT spring 8F/10R w/ Radial bearing mounts. I know a few members in this forum got the same set up, will be helpful if someone could show some guidance to install them.

I have got a little idea how to do it after watching some YT videos but will be great if I could get the proper steps to do Fortune on Evo 9.

Hope to hear from someone soon.
Thanks

coilovers are very straight forward

front:
1. remove the brake line from the strut
2. unscrew the two bolts on the hub that hold the strut
3. unscrew the 3 nuts that hold the top of the strut (in the engine bay)
4. remove stock strut
5. perform steps 1-4 in reverse with the coilover

rear:
1. remove swaybar mounting bolts
2. unscrew bottom bolt on strut
3. unscrew 2 top nuts on strut
4. remove strut
5. perform steps 1-4 in reverse with the coilover

final step:
1. get an alignment asap

Installing is easy. Here's a thread with pictures and fortune coils. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...tallation.html

There aren't any torque specs in that thread, but if you search there's a good thread floating around.

Thanks guys...you have been very helpful.
I was a bit concerned about the setting up the springs/perch/tension etc etc.
But heard Fortune comes preloaded from factory and l I have to only make sure locking rings are tight.

Steps seems to be very generic and simple. I have been watching some YT videos.

Does anyone know the easy way to set the height? Not looking to slam the car,
just a tad lower than standard height especially the front? What should be the length (gap) between the upper and bottom locking rings to achieve a nice and legal and height?

Cheers

Thanks

Get a friend to help you.

Takes about 1.5 hours (2ppl) if you are mechanically inclined.
Hardest part was removing the trunk liner

Probably I will get my misses to help me. Hehehee
Does the full liner needs to come off, I got a massive dual sub enclosure in the boot no idea how to unfasten it as the previous owner installed it. Hmmmmmm

Probably bad advice but the easiest way to "figure it out" is to just go do it. Even if you read all the tutorials for your car, nothing will teach you more than seeing what you need to remove and just working through it.

the rears are a pain in the ***, since there's little room to work with. You don't need to remove the back seats.
