My new wheels (Konig Hypergrams)

Hey guys. I was in the market for new wheels recently and figured I'd share my new setup.

When I purchased my Evo IX RS, it already had Motegi MR118s in 17x8+32 on the car. I liked the way the Motegis looked, however they weigh nearly 22 lbs each. Since it's an an evo, I wanted to upgrade in both width and reduce weight.

I spent countless hours searching the forums, Facebook, Instagram and Google images. The two that caught my eye were the Wedssport TC105X in 17x9.5+32 , or the Konig Hypergrams in 17x9+25. I found only a few examples of these wheels on an Evo 8/9, and most of them were in 18s rather than 17s.

Ultimately, I decided to go with the Konig Hypergrams as the price of the Hypergrams were less than half of the TC105Xs ($170 compared to $450) , and weighed only about ~2 lbs more per wheel. I also upgraded from 235/45/17 BF Goodrich Comp2A/S to 255/40/17s Nitto NT555 G2s.

I have to admit, they look real good. I was worried a little bit fitment because I only found 1 example on the forums of the Konig Hypergrams with a +25. The post mentioned there was slight poke and the car also had some camber. All the other posts were in +35 where a 3mm spacer is needed to clear the front calipers. In addition, my car has an unknown brand lowering kit. If the wheels didn't fit, I would be S.O.L.

I gotta say, that's pretty flush and looks real nice compared to the big gap that was there with the Motegis. There's no rubbing, even at full lock. Anyway, thanks for reading, I hope if there's anyone looking for new wheels in the future, that this information helps, and the reader may consider the Konig Hypergrams.

Looks excellent. I like the look for sure. That wheel is super nice & has an aggressive offset at +25. No rub in rear w/the 255's? Surely the rear fender must be rolled?

I went to go check since I did not get the fenders rolled. The rear fender has a slight roll on it, but there looks to be enough clearance even without a roll, but I could be wrong

Those are what i run just got them last year. Like them and didn't want to go with the regular RPF1 and TE's that everyone runs. In the future i want some CE28 though really like those.

I agree, it seemed like 90% of all evos have either the RPF1s or the TE37s. That was one of the reasons I went towards the TC105x and the Hypergrams; not many Evo owners have them. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get some TE37s too, but around 3k for a set, no thanks.

I did not use any spacers at all. The only thing I needed was hub centric rings that are really cheap. Based on previous posts I was able to find, the +35 offset does require a 3mm spacer.

Great looking wheel, bargain price too for what seems to be reliable enough for some track use.

How much negative camber out back?

How would 18x10.5 +25 Hypergrams fit on a 8/9 if 9.5s fit with no spacers? I think anything between 22-30 offset in 18" works for these cars no spacers, barring wheels with flush spoke faces (NT03Ms that need a spacer at +22 offset) or that have tons of spoke clearance (iirc +35s works on CE28s).

For camber, I am not entirely sure. I ordered the wheels already mounted/balanced. I do plan on taking the car to get an alignment soon, but once I do, i'll post the information.

I pulled most of my information from this thread below. Based on those posts, and my experience with the 17x9+25, I do not see why the 18x10.5+25 wouldn't fit. If all else fails, you can always reach out to Konig and they should be able to provide definitive information on whether the 18x10.5+25 Hypergrams will clear without spacers or not.
