Just installed Sumitomo HTRZ II

I just had the Sunitomo HTRZ II tires installed on my EVO. All I can say is the insane handling and responsivness is gone from my EVO.

Sure the new tires are quiet but they definetly do not grip like the Advan's do. The Sumitomo tires have a treadwear of 220 so they were close in comparison to the Yokohama AVS ES100.

I do not race my car but I wll miss the quick turning I had before. I havent had a chance to really use the tires since they only have 10 miles on them but I will know more this weekend.

When I jerk the wheel the rear end feels like its going to swing out on me where as before the car would just trun. I truly commend Yokohama on the A046 for making such a great tire for the EVO.

I will keep you updated on the performance of the Sumitomo tires.

Update 5/10/04

Well after figuring out that the tire shop put 40 pounds of pressure in all the tires I put 32.5 in the front and 30 in the back the car handles great!

Not as great as the Advan's but definetley worth the 95.00 each. I would recommend these tires to anyone on a budget.

Sounds right. Every single tire out there with the exception of R-Compounds are a dissapointment in comparison to the OEM tire.

If the tires only have 10 miles on them, you're still in the layer of oily surface rubber. Give them 500 miles or so to break in.

That's very wishful thinking.

The Sumitomo is a great winter tire. I'm using ao46's for the summer.

Same observation here. I have had the tires now for about 150 miles. There is a definite downgrade in handling/performance with the Sumitomo's over stock

I might be in the market for some new tires.... If Mitsu won't replace my fronts for free. The Sumitomo have a very impressive rating.... They compare well to the G-Forces.... I mean nothing is going to grip like the OEM tires... But then again do you really want to pay $848 every 10K miles? Didn't think so. LOL

Woops. I didn't read your edited part 818... Nevermind my post.

Another idea... How do the Falken Grb Fk451 MAtch up to the Sumitomo HTRZ II's? They are the same price.

Same here but the s-03's are pretty nice.
