LoL the only thing I liked about the ts-1 was the fact that it's 5lbs lighter... I haven't done enough research to confirm this. I'm still in favor of the s-03.

 

I would like to add one thing which Neal has mentioned. In terms of dry grip, steering response, and handling, there is not a tire(The Sti Potenza excluded) short of an R compound that meets the performance of the stock Advans.

 

I've got some miles on the T1-S's now... From the reviews of the members here, I believe I made the best choice for under $200 (as in they are so close to OE performance). I'll have more to say after I auto cross them or find a place to really dog them. As of right now, I can't say I miss the Advans yet!

 

I had S0-3 on my ITR and they were very ggod in the dry, excellent in the wet, quieter than stock (the ITR comes with Bridgestone RE-010 which are loud and stiff but not as loud and stiff as the Advans) smoother riding than stock. They lasted about 15,000 hard miles (including 3 AX and 2 track days). They were a very good tire but not a great value.

hey guys, did y'all forget about the goodyear F1-GSD3? Tirerack has them for less than the s-03's and has better numbers overall in comfort/roadnoise/wear/handling from the consumers. haven't tried them, just looking at numbers....

 

F1 supercar is the only goodyear street tire worth its price. The rest are all easily beaten by others in pure performance or performance returned per dollar spent.

You want a premium tire, get a Michelin. Goodyear is trading heavily on their racing name and not delivering much to the consumer.

 

I like my S-03's, they transition well on the street and the track. Tons of grip, but then again, I'm running a 255. Stiffer sidewall than a T1-S and better traction.

They wear pretty well, too, hopefully I'll kill them at the track next week.

 

Might want to wait for the T1-R. You can see it on Toyo's UK. website.

 

My next set of tires will probably be RA-1's.

 

There are three tires out there which are EQUAL to the strock ADVAN A046s. They are:

1. Goodyear F1 SuperCar
2. STI Potenza
3. BF Goodrich T/A KD

The T/A KDW is a joke and only comparable to the Yokohama AVS-100. In 17" all three tires above will be at least $165 a tire. At 18" you are hitting $200 a tire. I bought the KDs and they are EQUAL to the stock ADVANs.

The next best thing would probably be the RA-1s or even the Kumho ECSTA MX. The 712 is decent but just a rung under that.

I agree wholeheartedly. I recently moved to the Toyo T1-S after 16k worth of miles on my Advans and I think the Toyo's are just as good as the Advans, performance wise. When you do the math, they come out to be better than the Advans due to price. Just my two pence worth.

When I ment cheap crap tire I was not reffering to the SO-3's ( which I have had 20,000miles of Expierence with in my 2001 M3) I was reffering to the FUZION tires from bridgestone The FUZUION IS A CRAP TIRE IMHO!!!! Compared to the tires that were being discussed ie SO-3, KDW, T1-S. Yes I know how sponsorship works. But it still proves my point of the T1-S being a great all around tire!!!
