Sounds like tires aren't the only thing around here with a whole lot of air in them.

Grey, May I please have your attention. My grammatical errors were made when I was fatigued, running a business is no easy task. So do not patronize me with your pseudo-intellectualism. I figured I'll add a little amuzement to this talk of tires. No more no less. If I have offened you in the process I take it back . I ment no harm. Oh by the way If I spelled things wrong my bad!!!

Tires - yes. I think I'm going to go with the Azenis-215. They'll probably be burned up just in time to get a set of tires for the rainy season here in California. I've hear that Falken is coming out with new sizes and compounds for the fall too.

I just put a set of PS2's on my car. Ridiculous how soft the sidewall felt while mounting, but insane amount of feedback, grip, stiffness and wet traction is second to aboslutely none. Spend the extra 200-300 bucks and put them on.

I'm wondering the same thing. I've heard from a lot of people that these are some of the best tires you can buy. is this not the case with the evo?
it doesn't seem like there's a real good answer to which tires are better than the stock advans. are the S03's better or equal, and what about these goodyears. I've also heard that the F1 Supercars are overrated and not as good as the F1-GSD3.

I need new tires very soon and it sounds like I'll probably just stick with the advans for now.

I'm still undecided.. money will end up being the deciding factor for me... I'm going with s-03's or another set of Advans

My .02 on the Toyo T1-S. They are a very good tire (although I have never pushed them at a track event or autocross). The only knock I have on them is that when I lived in Vegas, they dry-rotted on me. Maybe it could have happened to any tire, but I had the Toyo's on at the time. Great wet weather traction (almost no hydroplaning on the street). When I get my Evo, I plan on putting them on after the stockers are done.

I have S-03s they are decent, they have pretty good grip, little noise, decent tread wear, and wet - well I live in California - soooo . They are a little pricey, my friends that are into cars have tested yokohama, kumho, bridgestone, and they swear by Toyo T1-S... but again they aren't the most aggressive drivers. What exactly are you using the tires for - race application or street driving? I think the s-03 are good for something that has superior practicality for daily driving with the capabilities for high performance. T1-S, I heard are fairly "hard" tires? Is this true? Have you also considered Yokohama AVS ? I know I hear that BF Goodrich KD(W) - (which ever is the ultra high performance summer tire) - is very nice, but a bit pricey. Toyo RA-1s... great for race or high performance application, since they are almost slicks and wear out like within 4000 miles, but crazy crazy tire! These are all great tires people are mentioning, I would simply choose based on your needs and what you will be using them for.

My 2cents on the T1-S so far...The sidewall is softer than the stock tire. The grip seems to be there but the turn in is a bit less precise. You will not experience the same steering feel as with the Advans. I haven't really pushed them yet 'cus I just got them put on and am still messing with pressures. On the plus side they're quieter than the Advans and have a smoother ride. I can hear the wind noise now - weird. Of course the thing that really chaps my hide is that the tire place knuckleheads scratched up my wheel lips when they mounted them. Looks like I curbed each wheel. Jeebus.

that is inexcusable. seriously, go down there and raise hell, and make them pay for your wheels to be refinished at the very least.

if they don't have the expertise or tools to do the job right, they shouldn't do it at all.

I agree, and I am. The crazy thing is the place specializes in custom wheel and tire mounting. Thanks for the support, and he seems like he's going to make good on the damage. I'll post more about the Toyos once I scrub 'em in a bit more. I want to wear the mold release off before I go nuts in the canyons.

Went with the Toyo RA1's and man am I glad. And yes, not only do they compare to the stockers(Advan A046), I like them more. The R compound is noticably softer, improves the driving charachter, takes the bumps and rough roads way more comfortably. Grips like mad around corners. I know longevity may be an issue, so I'm not going to tear em up autocrossing. But their f'n awesome.

I was really thinking of going with the t1-s but I really like the stiff sideway of the Advan. Does anyone know how the S-03 sidewall feels?

The RA1's look really nice but I don't think they would last long enough for me.

I am curious about this too. Based on the performance numbers, the goodyear F1 GS-D3 look great. I just think if the tire had something on it other than "Goodyear", more people would be likely to try them.

I too am a bit skeptical about the "Goodyear" product line. However, they have awesome performance numbers. I believe I have read 3 diiferent Evo-shod posts about the F1 GS-D3 tires, 2 good & 1 bad.

Tire choice comes down to what your going to do with them. You have people saying the Pirelli P zero's are great & are crap. Because you have completely different users, requiring different needs.

For myself, I am looking for a smoother / quieter ride & dont mind giving up some grip. Thats why I am looking torwards the F1 GS-D3 or the Pirelli P zero nero.

Big deal if the steering response isnt the same, if you know that, than you can allow for that-regardless of where your driving. As I said earlier, It comes down to what you want from the tires.

The Advans A-046 make up for a lack of driving skill when people are in the canyons, which is probably a good thing & why Mitsu put these tires on in the 1st place!!

Sorry that I cant offer you any tire choice, just like anyhting else posted here, take it with a grain of salt. Try to drive or drive in a evo 8 that has the tires your looking for at a club event. Good luck
