I think posting the how-to on a page with a donation link is a pretty well accepted norm. I think you also might be surprised how many of us click the link and actually help you out if your walk-through works, *especially* if it contains new information or software. If you want to provide a service on top of that, then you probably would even get the non-DIY people that would be more than happy to use your service. However, hoarding information = fail no matter how you try to play it.

Additionally, out of respect for Otaku, a link to his site and/or donation page, too. Make it _clear_ that your donation is for your time of assembling instructions for downgrading units, but no matter what you do, definitely do not forget to give credit to the other people involved with this hack.

I don't have a donation page for myself and my own work involved (working with my friend as the *first* people to have cracked the HDD Unlock Password on the MMCS, [google mmcs hdd unlock to see how we did it if interested!] and some subsequent beta testing of Otaku's patches).

In any event, posting your knowledge is always much appreciated by the community! Thanks for being involved.

Personally if I was brian360 or Otaku, I'd be slightly insulted. I already gave the example why. But either way, just make sure to ask for donations if you are really determined for it.

I haven't used this yet, but I still appreciate the work you've done brian.

See, the advances on evos, lancers, eclipses and other cars throughout the last 15 years was from the open community helping each other. Not just on advice, but mainly on software. Tephra, Gunzo, JohnBradley, DavidBushcur, etc etc have all gone to great lengths to make sure we can have our cake and eat it too. Each one of these guys goes above and beyond to make sure our tunes are properly understood and that we can go beyond the barriers that the manufacturer has placed before us. If they charged for every little thing no one would have all this cool stuff. There wouldn't be 1200whp evos because no one would be working together. It's a community effort when things come together like that.

The only reason you're able to do what you're doing is because of Brian360 and Otaku.

Do what you want, but in the end when you need help with something down the road, don't expect the people you burned to help you out.
Amen

Yes, but I refuse to eat it in the car, and the windows are down the whole way home, even if the temp is below zero!
