Homelink Mirror Installed
I'd have to see if I still have one two pictures around...
I chose to use an oem subaru mirror because the compass is hidden when powered off and the compass display is amber so it matches the interior perfectly. It also happens to be less expensive when buying from subarupartswarehouse because they often have 20% off coupons. If you are not interested in the compass feature look to purchase 2013-2014 legacy/outback mirrors. You can find them for pretty cheap...maybe $50.
The autodimming mirror powers off when the vehicle is off as well as when the vehicle is shifted into reverse so you can see. The homelink mirror only works when the ignition is keyed on and the autodimming feature works the same way as the factory autodimming mirror.
Regarding the wiring: everything you need is already in the headliner. Sadly mitsubishi didn't place an inline connector in the headliner for the mirror. It is bundled with additional wires and I had no intention of dropping the headliner in order to see where it went. What I chose to do was cut off the oem connector maybe 1in from the end and butt splice the wiring for the mirror together. It's three wire: 1 acc power, 1 ground, 1 switching wire that kills power when car is placed in reverse.
PM me if you need details I could walk you through it, especially if you chose to get the same mirror.

But basically you just used the wires that came out of the headliner by the existing rearview mirror, and didn't run anything else down to like the fuse box or anything, right?
I think you answered one of my big questions which was will the garage opener work when the ignition is off. But can you clarify: Does it work in accessory mode or does the engine have to be on?
I did, plus these other threads:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...installed.html
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ng-mirror.html
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...r-our-car.html
But nobody mentioned doing this when you have a factory autodimming mirror. I want to understand if I have proper wiring routed there from the factory or if I need to run more wires like those threads show.

Thanks, I'll probably do that when I do the install in the spring.

The mirror has power in acc mode as well as when the ignition is in the on position.
Correct, no additional wiring was run to the fuse box or anything. All that was added was extra length of wire from the existing auto dimming mirror with the homelink connector on the one end.

I have a new Canadian 2015 MR with a non-dimming mirror but it has the rain/light sensor right above the mirror. Could i tap in to that power to get the homelink mirror working?
