I read the threads on people installing a homelink mirror but wanted to confirm if the rear mirrors sold on eBay amazon or even at dealers like Nissan for their cars are all the same? Wanting to make sure so I can just look for the cheapest one I find online that comes with wiring.

Or also my cheaper alternative idea is lowes and Home Depot sell key chain garage transmitters I'm wondering if anyone has used those? I've been trying to research if those remotes can be programmed to open neighborhood gates.

I got a homelink mirror from eBay. Seller camsmirrors. It was pretty straight forward. I think they are all the same except whether they include a compass or some other feature. I like the homelink mirror option personally vs key fob or separate door opener because it draws power from the car being on so thrives can't break into my car to open the garage.

 

Im using a homelink auto dimm mirror that was made for my Mazdaspeed3. Only thing I had to purchase was a shorter wire cover for around 2 bucks. Most of the homelink auto dimm mirrors are made by gentex (sp)?
Just make sure it comes with the shorter wire cover and you're good.

 

I installed a Gentex homelink mirror in my X. A Gentex mirror also came OEM on my RX8. Tons of Sellers in Ebay carry them as well as other online stores.

 

So just need to find one that uses "standard wedge" mount like this eBay ad?

from what I read they come with standard domestic style wedges which fits our cars. just remember to get the short wire covers and youre good to go.
