Rockford Fosgate front speakers to aftermarket amp?

How to connect RF front speakers to an aftermarket amp? AFAIK they are amplified separately by the stock amp. Has anyone done this, could you please share the experience?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm going to do. Except I'm going to also change the head unit.
So how did you connect the front speakers to the new amp?

Yeah, I replaced the head unit also. Just went out of the head unit into the amp (installed under the front seat), then out of the amp to the front speakers. You looking for something more specific?

Well, yes.
The front speakers are two component. Under the stock setup tweeters and woofers are each connected to the amp, so there are four channels coming out just for the front and two others are for the rear.
The new amp 'expects' you to connect the front componets through a crossover, so there are only two outputs for the two front channels.
My question is how do you connect effectively four stock speakers to the two front outputs of the new amp?

Got it, I replaced the stock speakers with Alpine type S that came with the whole X-over kit, so that wasnt an issue for me. But, if you are to stick with the stock, you will need to use a X-over.

The problem with replacing just the amp is that the stock amp is doing what is normally done by the head unint - sound processing. The stock HU is supplying only stereo signal and the amp is distributing it to all the speakers and the sub and does the related controls. So if you put and aftermarket amp you won't be able to control the sound processing features of the stock stereo.
