I'd say that about all of them. I never leave mine in the window during the summer (or any time for fear of smash and grab thieves) because of that. I've killed several brands of detectors that way.

I'm thinking of purchasing the 'Cobra XRS R8' model..... can't find too many reviews on google and wondering if anyone has an insite to share?

thanks in advance!

V1 all the way, btw v1 has a setting to take away the unwanted low band signals, they will still show in the arrow but wont make sounds, other radars wont help you if theres more than one cop, like one in the rear and front.

Radar Detectors

I only use the K-40 Systems. They are the only Radar Detectors that have a one year ticket protection guarantee. They will reimburse you for any speeding ticket you receive for one year from date of purchase. The only exceptions are (Speeding in a School Zone /Speeding in a Construction Zone / DUI).

This System Works!

V1 is like an annoying girlfriend that won't shut the hell up. Chirp chirp chirp every time you go by a Walgreens, a grocery store, anything with an alarm system, redlight camera, etc.

Escort 9500ci (custom install) - FTW. Has GPS and allows you to lock out false signals. Pair that with a Laser Jammer (Blinder or Laser Interceptor) and you are good to go.

V1 is for old farts that don't know any better.

To all those with a V1 complaining about false alerts, just turn off the x-band detection. In CA at least, no agency is using it. Hell I've even turned off my K-band detection since 90+% of the LEO I have seen are using Ka...

You know, it doesn't seem like any of the complaints about the V1 are coming from V1 owners - all from someone who went with something else.

FWIW, I treat the V1 like I do all the other sights and sounds we add to our vehicles (like gauges, etc)... It's all part of the machine telling you what's going on. The V1 does make a lot of noise, but once you've had it for a while, you treat it like another piece of sensory input. Some beeps in some places bring to your attention that there's something you need to be paying attention to...

I liken it to those of us who are old Unix hacks... I'll have a window going with six terminal screens each doing a tail -f on a different log file, and leave it on my smaller monitor all day. The patterns of the log files make sense, and even when they're scrolling by at a page or so of text every second, you can still sense when something went by that you need to pause the display and scroll back to look at.

re: K-40

I prefer a system where you don't get tickets.

Most certainly this. It also seems like some of those same posts are filled with derision and veiled or obvious attacks against the inteliigence level of those who did choose the V1.
