Is it a nussaince trying to put the radar detector up and back everytime? I have a gps that has to be mounted and I rarely use it, but when I do I hate it because it's annoying to mount and take off, if I don't put something wet on the suction cup it won't stick good enough, and it leaves a big spot on my windshield that only windex gets off. That's why I put mine under the visor. Even though I get good enough signals usually, I'm sure they'd be better if I had it on the windshield so I was just wondering how it's working out for you guys.

Yea anyone want to share how they have their radar detector mounted, what do you do about only having 1 power point in the evoX if you have a GPS that needs plugged in too? Any pictures you have of your set up would be greatly appreciated!

Out here you need to take it down everytime you leave the car. Yeah it's a pain to do, but it keeps your detector from being fried by the heat.

My V1 isn't in the Evo, but I have it hardwired into the Accesory 2 power line - that way it turns on and off with the car, I don't have the cord hanging down from the windshield, and I don't lose use of the power outlet.

No. A nuisance would be buying another $400 unit next year. I can deal with suction cup marks.

I have a Beltronics GX65 Professional Series w/ GPS mounted just under the rearview mirror. I installed a hardwire kit, so all you see is 6-7" of power cable, and that's it. I set it up so my radar turns on and off with my ignition switch. i ran the cable straight up to the headliner, across the driver side, down the A pillar, under the dash, and used an add-a-fuse to tap into the fusebox by the driver's left knee. works like a champ, and looks clean.

sweet, do u have any pics of that set up, any issues with the A piller being an airbag cover? also which fuse did you tap it into? And where did you mount the mute/silence button

I will try to take some pics after i get off work while it's still light. i dont remember which fuse i tapped into, maybe the radio? i just looked at the chart on the lid and picked one that only had power with the ignition on. the hardest part was getting to a screw to use as a ground. that required my dad's drill with a 6" extension to get to a screw. i will take some closeup pics of where i ran the cabling too. overall, it took about 30 minutes to do, because i had to poke around to figure how to do some of the stuff, but i could probably do it in about 20 now. i just barely tucked the cable inside the lip of the top of the a-pillar, so as to not disturb the airbag system. i also opted not to mount the mute/silence button anywhere. i just ran a straight power cable from my detector to the fuse box in the dash.

stealth install 2 months strong with no issues =) it already saved me on 2 specific occasions which would outweigh the ~$90 fine. using an escort 8550
