this is what i am afraid of... i have the pioneer avh-3200BT... the screen itself is 5.8 inches, not sure what the whole size of the unit is, but im afraid of the gaps it might have... can anyone else confirm this or have photos of a smaller double din unit with the JDM kit.

That pic is of a double din JDM kit. The OEM Nav is wider which needs a wider dash kit.

i assure you they will, i am an apple fanboi so sadly i keep up with stuff like that. Main cool thing that a recent rumor said about the new one is that it will have a usb port. could care less about the camera and crap.

My wife and I both have one. Mine is my shop computer for looking at how-to's and such in the garage, and she reads and plays games on hers. They get used more then enough to pay for themselves a few times over.

The reason there is so much dash gap is the metra kit isn't designed well enough to support the weight of a HU. Some Units may have better luck an are able to use the stock mounting but at the end of the day it still looks wicked cheap. Spend the extra, its worth it.

Is there a tray kit to convert the JDM double-DIN to a single-Din? And how much better is this than say, swapping out my basic non-NAVI dash piece for a locally purchased (thus maybe cheaper) Navi dash piece and THEN using a dash kit? The point being the fit and finish of any OEM part is certainly going to be better than schoche and Metra but maybe I'd just be happy with a NAVI dash piece+dash kit versus a full up JDM Double-Din
