How to get rid of whine when charging iPhone?

I have always had a problem with whine when playing music through my AUX port using my iPhone if I'm charging the iPhone. My solution was to never charge and listen at the same time. Now I've installed an iPhone connector that always charges (part of my gauge/radar detector installation project over the weekend) and the whine is always there now. I've read that this could be a grounding problem. I followed Clipse3GT's distribution block how-to.

How do I make the noise go away? Better grounding? If so, I can use the ground wire from my distribution block. What would be the best way to do that? Would it be overkill to wire the ground directly to the battery?

I've got the same issue with my phone in my girlfriends car. Her phone, my roommates iPhone, and his girlfriends phone don't do it nearly as bad, but still do it.

I'd run a new ground to the radio, and whatever other electrical stuff the iPhone connects to. In my case, I have an FM Modulator and the radio. I need to ground both, I think.

Is this actually from the vehicle itself? i notice this charging my android phone. I assumed that it was poor shielding from my auxillary audio cable and was going to purchase a higher quality one.

I picked up a ground loop isolator from amazon and I'm going to install it this weekend. I'll let you guys know if it helps.

I don't think it has anything to do with RCA shielding, because my RCA cables were nowhere near my iphone charger before (with the stock setup,) and it still made the whine when I was charging. It was tolerable then because I would just not charge the phone when I wanted to listen to music from my iphone. Now that I installed the new adapter, it's always charging so I always hear the whine, and that sucks.

This is the ground loop isolator I ordered.

and this is the iPhone charger/RCA adapter I ordered.

I don't think it's the cable. Mitsubishis are known for their crappy audio system grounds. My girlfriend drives an older Hyundai, which I believe was heavily influenced by Mitsu at the time.

All phones do this in her car, not just mine. Mine does it the worst by far, though. My roommates iPhone barely does it. I'd run a ground from the battery to the radio, with 12 gauge wire, and tie the radio and iSimple as well as any other audio stuff into that ground. You could even run the ground outside the car, just to test. If it solves the problem, then do it the right way.
