should I get a TomTom Nav?

My sister and brother both have navigation units and its pretty handy, so I'm thinking about getting one. I think they both have Tomtoms, should I go for that or do you have any suggestions? LED

I myself am a big Garmin fan. They're simple and very easy to use. TomToms have always had a clunky feel to me, though to be honest I haven't used one in a few years. I've been using garmins for quite a few years now.

if you have an iphone, navigon app is pretty good. if you have FUSE, it works very well pair together with the iphone. i use this set up with a car mount and serves all my navigational needs.

Go with a Garmin. If you have an iPhone the app cost $50.00 but works very well. GL

I prefer Garmin over other nav units, including cell phone ones.

Go for the Garmin with the free for life live traffic update. Comes in handy, especially for road trips and if you live in a big city.

I'm an advocate of the Tom Tom. Garmins have lead me to the wrong place more often and never seem to have a feature my TomTom had that I loved..."Find POI along route"

Seems like Garmins always want to lead me the other direction.

Had my TomTom for a few years now and I enjoy the interface, ease of use and quality of the display...easy to read and figure out your next move....You can upgrade and get live traffic and weather....also connecting it to my pc for updates is quick and easy.

I've never used or seen a Garmin unit used so I have no info on Garmins...heard they are nice but that's all I can say.

Both are good depending on what interface you're into

If you own a smartphone, save a few bucks and opt for the equivalent navigation app

If you have a smart phone, save yourself the $250 and just use google maps!

I have my steering column set up so that I can wedge my phone (vertically) in between it and the top of the dash. It stays there and I can just use google maps/pandora from there.

I have a Garmin and I like it. I'll admit that whoever plots the maps must not know their left from their right, though. Sometimes it says my destination is on the left in 50ft, but really I just passed it on the right.
