Electrical/battery problems Yippee
Hello all, first time here and not for a good reason...
I have a 2010 white evo and as if i haven't already had enough problems, heres another one. I was in need of changing the battery of my car and since i didn't want to deal with a dealership I decided to head to autozone bought the battery ran fine. A couple days later a bunch of lights start coming on the dash (asc service required brake service required engine overheating tach stopped working etc) car was crazy pretty much. I parked and turned it off tried turning it on to no avail.
Had the car towed to LIC Hyundai and Mitsu, they ask if i have done anything to the computer, i said no i haven't touched anything turns out the service advisor tells me he had to reprogram the computer and checked wiring and such and told me that wasn't covered by warranty and he would have to charge me for the hrs worked on the vehicle (arounnnnd $500), heres the kicker I asked him if this can happen again, because he couldn't exactly tell me what had happened just that things were reprogrammed and he states well if its in the same nature then yes...WHAT THE ****?
How was I not surprised? He tells me part of the problem is the battery isn't correct, that it was not made for the car and possible sulfuric gasses can travel through the passenger compartment. I appreciated the feedback so I say to him wellll this isn't the first time I've had to change batteries and if it would be possible to get it replaced under warranty (stock panasonic wouldn't start last winter, and the redtop installed by a nj dealer was dead). Tells me well my system is down so I'd have to call you back when it's up and determine by your vin# and the part # if i could get it replaced.what to do now? Is it just me or do all Mitsu dealerships try to **** you in the ***?

2010's came with the Panasonic battery? At any rate, my Panasonic battery on my 08 died and the dealer where I bought my car from, Bell Mitsubishi replaced it with Optima Red Top under warranty.
Which battery did you buy exactly, and frankly there are so many posts on the various forums about the Panasonic battery failing and replaced warranty that you didn't take it to a dealer to get it replaced in the first place.
Did you inspect the new battery you bought from Autozone? I am sure they looked up a part number etc. before they sold you the battery and when I did a search on their site, NA lancer and the Evo come back with the same Duralast 35-DLG. When batteries leak enough, it's pretty obvious that there is a leak, in which case Autozone should be paying for your repair, but I am pretty skeptical on the battery fumes story.

Funny i had gotten the x from Bell and that was were I began to dislike mitsu dealerships when they replaced a clutch without my consent and slapped me with a big bill but that's another story. Well onto the battery it is the duralast platinum that autozone looked up so i checked it it looks fine. Was the service advisor trying to get me to buy a new "oem" one from them? From what I have read it is an absorbed glass mat meaning completley sealed so no fumes? btw my 10' came with the panny which got replaced with the red top optima which that also died and then i just bought the duralast from autozone
I will probably call corporate and see if fixing the car was warranty work, if so then we'll see what happens, appreciate the response
