factory navi headunit and upgrading speakers?

Is the factory navi headunit any better than the regular hu for sound/power to speakers? I'm seeing if it pointless to change the crap factory speakers to good ones with keeping the oem navi, and at a later date add an amp and sub? i have non sss 6 speaker

The only way to get better OEM sound is to get the Rockford stereo.

so if I want to keep the factory navi in my car, I have no options for upgrading sound without upgrading hu too?

No, you can keep the OEM navi. You could add the Rockford Fosgate amp, speakers and sub to it. Or you could go aftermarket and I believe there are adapters to add aftermarket amps, speakers, etc to the OEM navi.

so if I did add the factory amp and sub and rf speakers and all that jazz, would the navi detect the extra speakers and sub to adjust the "punch" level of the sub. In my 2008 MR I had the rf sound with the navi and obviously had the controls for the sub. Just wondering if my navi is the same as the one in a rf packaged car or I would have to change to a rf navi?

Navi is the same one. They also use it in the Lancer and the Outlander.

alright man, thanks for the replies, appreciate it much. I'm not wanting to go crazy with big aftermarket sound cutting old speakers and big amps under my trunk and such. I was very happy with the rf sound when I had my 08 evo x. And a fellow member is selling his complete rf so looking into buying it and spending the time to wire and install it all (if I don't get stuck).

Changing just the speakers wont do anything for sound.

if you want better SQ from the OEM nav unit then change the amp and speakers.

The problem lies in the amp and partially the speakers.

You could even get away with just changing the amp too!
