Angry MMCS taking forever to load up my USB drive

I was wondering if anyone has this issue before and if anyone has a fix for it. But recently I noticed that my MMCS, (Factory Navi HU) is taking forever to load up my USB drive and have it start playing my songs. It would take like about an hr to 2 hrs before the songs are up and running. Has anyone encountered this problem and have a fix for this? My USB drive is 32gb with 24gb of songs on there. For me, that's a total of 5.5k songs on the drive. Hopefully someone has an answer for me because it's really annoying since it renders my USB drive useless on a 40min drive/commute.

The MMCS does naturally take a little while to load because it's somewhat of an older design. But, 1 hour is way too long. My 8GB iPod which is fully loaded takes maybe 20 seconds to load and then begins playing. Take it to the dealer and have them investigate.

Get 3 other USB sticks. Put 1 song on each. Insert one after the other after letting them play for a few seconds. Then for the forth, use your IPOD.

I was planing on taking it to the dealer but when I called the service people, they said it was "normal" there is no way in he'll that it's "normal" so I cant really rely on the dealers now.

It is FAT32. I format it to FAT32 before i dumped in all of my songs. Also, this is a new usb drive.

The POS head unit attempts to index all songs on the ipod before it plays. More songs = longer index time. And it won't play until they are indexed. When working correctly, it takes about 3-5 minutes or so for it to start playing off my IPOD and I have 40GB of songs on it.

Also, that index occasionally get corrupted. The only way to reset the index is to insert more USB sticks to clear the index. You need a total of 4 devices.

Who designed this system is a complete moron. I'm replacing it as we speak.

Pretty much found out the hard way how this head unit works.if I knew it sucks *****, I would have not picked it up in the first place. I wish I could replace it but im on a tight budget and I have to make this POS work for me. I haven't found tine to do the 4 device trick yet. Will keep this posted once I do.

Well... i did the 3 USB drive trick and it still didn't work. It still takes forever just to load up my 5k songs I have on my USB drive. Pretty annoying. Guess im just gonna have to deal with it for now and just play music through my phone from blue tooth.

Forgot to add that I did a test and if i was to only have 1k songs on my USB flash drive, it would play within a minute of loading. It's still slow but still a lot faster when i have 5k songs on my USB drive. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a lot of storage to dump all of your songs in to play in the car. Oh well. I'm just gonna have to deal for now. I never tried an IPod yet with that many songs but my nano with 500 songs still takes a minute to load up the songs. kinda stupid IMO.
