replace OEM subwoofer

I was wondering if anyone could advise me. I've read on other forums about replacing the stock Fosgate subwoofer with a new one. Keeping the stock amp and bridging the channels on the sub. Does anyone know if this is true and could I use this?

https://www.crutchfield.com/S-eaLhYEXxdqI/p_091RSB250/Focal-RSB-250.html?XVINQ=GZ0&XVVer=10V0&awcr=628030358565&aw dv=m&awnw=g&awug=9001883&awkw=pla-1830144847420&awmt=&awat=pla&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj wKCAjwzN-vBhAkEiwAYiO7oE7r9whqWqZmmmPGn52EoYsQbcjWmlw3IF_iT o4LCCjT1mHTVbn35hoCtQwQAvD_BwE

Seems to me the depth will be okay and it's 4ohm dual voice coil. Then they said take the blue wire which is ground and the red wire and put them on the sub terminal. Then you need to run a jump wire to the positive and negative on the other terminal. Is that true? Or am I missing something. I'm also open to other subwoofer options if they fit and work better.

thanks 👍

I've thought about this, but mine still works fine and a I'm also considering ripping it all out for autox.. But I would think Crutchfield would be able to tell you when sub is compatable with the oem box. But that could be asking too much. lol

Yes I'm afraid asking them because I'm going to guess they may not know. I know a Rockford would fit and with the same mounting holes. On the other forum, he has the same box and amp. He used a RE Audio sub and that depth is bigger than the Focal. Now I just need to make sure I understand the wiring. That's super important.

thanks

I'm actually going with the Rockford Fosgate R2SD2 shallow mount. Lines up perfectly in the OEM housing. Should be setting everything up in a week or so.
