Maybe we should make our own thread asking them for a Works map so as not to hijack this HKS dropin thread request hehe

Cobbtuning just released the new stage 1 and stage 2 maps for the HKS drop-in just to let you guys know.

It runs pretty good. I just loaded it onto my AP early today and the knock is almost completely gone now. Although for some reason I had really high knock the first few minutes of driving ( it hit 2.4 ), it quickly went down to 0.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have a brand new HKS filter sitting in my trunk also... but from previous threads, it sounded like there wasn't going to be much of a performance difference. What's your take on performance?...any noticeable difference running Stage 1 with the HKS vs. OEM filter?

I think the increase in response is noticeable. I opened it up in 2nd and to the top of 3rd and I definitely feel a difference with the HKS filter. I don't think it has much of an effect on power though compared to the regular

The next thing I noticed was the increase in gas mileage. I used to get a steady 20-22mpg on the highway. Now it's up to as much as 27mpg on the highway and I've been averaging 25mpg local.

IMO its definitely worth it just for the increase in fuel efficiency, if not the faint blow off valve sound it makes haha..

Around here we're paying $3.10 per gallon for 93 octane,...so for a few more MPG's, definitely worth the 5 minutes to drop the filter and load up the new map!

well to give a little more detail..

it was to my knowledge a very flat highway and my speed was about 70-75 give or take.
this is also on 93 octane.

i thought it may have just been a good day to drive, but even my local mpgs went way up. I can manage to cruise at 25-30 or even 35mph with a steady 25-27 mpg according to the dash.

the only bad thing is that i've been data logging and noticed that i'm beginning to see a knock retard reading on my AP of 1.4 as of this afternoon. really considering taking back to just the regular stage 1 map.

anyone else datalog with the hks dropin map and get high knock retard?

I've seeing a slight increase in MPG's on highway driving ~25-26MPG But this was cruising at about 70MPH. Around town and spirited driving seems a bit worse ~16-18MPG.

Based on above, I will start to do some data logging of my own and will post my observations.

Anyone else try the new HKS dropin map yet?

I did, and I just got back from "testing" it out. Let me just get this out of the way first and say that the car imo pulls slightly better up top than the regular stage one map. Is it night and day difference...well no, but after all it is just a panel filter, but it is noticeable. I also did some data logging and had little to no knock.

However, the biggest difference between this map and the regular stage 1 map is the sound. The turbo and BOV are extremely noticeable now even when the temp outside is 90+ (as it is right now).

For those with an AP that want to hear either their turbo or BOV get an HKS filter and run this map you won't be disappointed. For those like me who simply wanted a little better air flow over stock...this is also the map for you.

Anyone else have an opinion?

I just copied this from another thread I posted my review in for anyone interested.

I just thought I would throw out that I have been running the HKS drop in for the life of my car, and for 6,000 miles I have been running the Cobb AP with a Perrin Stage 2 tune and I have no issues. The car runs strong. I have run the Cobb maps as well.
