HKS drop-in filter with AP...

Hello,

For those with HKS drop-in filters and a AccessPort, would you be so kind as to posting your modifications here and what map you are running?

Thank you,

I have one, but i pulled it out. So right now is just AP base map 1 and oem filter. I have the HKS in my trunk and i am waiting till i can get a AFR(not anytime soon, looks that way) till i can see how bad it leans the car. That's it, nothing more.

For a interesting data point.

On two Evo 10's, 100% bone stock with factory tune, dropping in the HKS drop-in filter gained 20whp/15wtq.

On one, I took it back out and put the factory filter back in, custom tuned the car. Then I swapped the HKS filter back in and the car only gained 6whp.

I just swapped out my HKS for the OEM, reset the ECU via AP and i drove it..... the car felt about the same. I could be wrong, the ECU may need time to relearn and readjust.

Thank you,
I just have a HKS drop-in and AccessPort. I chose the 93 Octane map. Is there something I should know? heh.

*Just read the other post, I'll take the drop-in out today *

I did the same, but my MR feels markedly different: less power. However, I did not reset the ECU, I will do that later to see if it makes a difference. Where in the menu is the ECU reset option?
THanks

Thank you,
I believe a Works and a K/N drop in will be very similar!
May be owners of those filters should chime in as well.

What's wrong with the drop-in filter? It smoothed out my car and completely eliminated any stumble at 5k rpm. Does the Cobb AP not play nice with a drop-in?

The maps were not developed with the drop in and it is possible the combination leans the A/F ratio a bit too much: again only a possibility, not proven so on a dyno/tune.

Rob,

If you guys need a stock X with just drop in to do some testing, I won't be using mine all winter. It's got a K&N drop in and is otherwise bone stock. I'd have to wait for a break in the weather to get it down to you from Pocatello. Just tossing it out there. I met a bunch of your guys when they came up here for Octoberfast autocross last fall and they were all cool and professional. I was the other person with an X (Rally Red with dealer plates still on). Let me know.

Jim

Hey Y'all,

We tested the HKS drop-in filter today on our Evo X GSR. The drop in filter alone leans out the fuel curve an average of 0.5 AFR points across the board during a WOT pull. That's a pretty significant change to the point where we may need to create a map to bring the AFRs back where we want them.

When I get back from Holiday on Monday, I will talk with the tuners. For now I still have to say the filter may be unsafe to run with our mapping.

FYI, the power curves were almost identical between stock and the HKS filter. There was a small gain above 6500 RPM.

Happy Holidays!

Rob

Identical curves with the AP map (stage 1) or with the stock map??

Sounds like the HKS is not only not safe with the current map, but it doesn't add any HP.

Would a revised map take advantage of the added airflow?
