cobb AP and boost

I'm running a stage 2 map on my ap and found something odd watching my boost gauge. The boost peaks at 24/25 and settles down to 17/18 psi, like it's supposed to do. But, on the way to 25, it stops at 15psi for a few seconds. looks like it hangs there from 4000 to 5500. The z-chip would go all the way to peak without any pauses.

Has anyone else seen this?

Going to be selling my z-chip for $200 also.

How does that map do with your AEM intake? Or is that a custom stage 2 map? Just wondering....Also I would give cobb a shout.

haven't contacted them about it yet, just noticed it about 30 minutes ago. I am running the stage 2 map intended for cobb's intake. I am not having any problems with it, no knock counts and not running lean.

I'll contact cobb tomorrow.

The z-chip was a great product, I just wanted to have the added security of the stock boost control system if any problems arised, if anyone was curious.

Yea when we dynoed our Evo x we noticed this on the dyno but it only occured once out of 5 runs. We have noticed that the hotter the car gets the more it fills like the turbo just isn't building boost.

Fixed it. I had my boost pill on the wastegate side instead of the turbo outlet side. Installed it backwards when I removed my mbc and Z-chip. Swapped it today at lunch and it made a huge difference.

all i did was flash the stage 2 map that came with it. You don't need to know anything about tuning to use this. I prefer this type of solution because it retains the stock boost control system.

i had the zchip and it ran wayy too lean! which is not a good thing for a guy like me. that chip is so hard to tune! i got accessport this weekend and its 100 times better! deffinately worth it! cobb is doing a custom tune for me. but they still have those preloaded maps. i gained 45hp just using the stage 2 map. then they started tuning from there

You gained that or more with the ZChip alone according to the dynosheet you sent us.

Tailpipe sniffers are not very accurate, and when you have a competing product manufacturer dynoing and testing your car, you have to take their bashing comments of the competing product with a grain of salt.

Just wanted to make sure I understand correctly. You removed the incorrect boost pill at first and thats why you ran into the problem?

I saw that dyno sheet while I was getting tuned at cobb. It happened to be laying on someones desk and I saw the AFRs and all I can say is yikes. I askedthem about it... from what I understand is that someone else may have tuned it after Scott sent it out so I'm not sure z-chip was to blame on that one. Cobb wasn't too up on the z-chip and they really didn't care one way or the other about the chip anyway. They are a very professional group.

I removed the entire network of hoses that had the pill in it to install a Manual boost controller. When i went back to stock, I swapped the Wastegate and turbo-outlet ends. It worked, just oddly. Swapped it back and all is good now.
