Hi, I would like to know if its possible to buy only 1 cobb ap....and tune 2 cars with it? if not, what stop you from tuning 2 cars with one AP?

 

the AP "marries" itself to one car.

2 cars = 2 APs required.

 

Like goofygrin said, the AP will only work on one car while it is installed on that car. The AP can be uninstalled and used on another car if you decide to sell the unit, for instance, but then the AP flashes your car back to stock during the uninstall process. This is intended to prevent multiple users from using one unit.

You might want to look into open source EcuFlash tuning if you want to split the cost with a friend.

 

the AP is faithful to only one car at a time. it has to break it off with one car to get with another.

 

But what about the shops that tune with the AP? If you create your own maps can you install it on more than one car?

 

Ap is designed to deliver the tunes to your ecu. The ap hardware marries to the ecu. Maps can be added and removed from the ap, but the ap will always only be able to flash the maps to the car it is married to.
