soft modding for MR

ok, i've had the evo for like 2 months now. it's got about 3200KM on it and i think it's sufficiently broken in.

on the topic of modding, i want to tread VERY CAREFULLY. i'm debating a CBE or an AP. from what i gather, AP with stage 1 maps will result in much better gains than installing a CBE alone.

can anyone attest to the gains claimed by AP? 18% on a bone stock 2008 MR? that'll bring it to ~343HP at the crank? i've tried searching for professional reviews on the thing, but they're really hard to come by

i'm willing to shell out money for one or the other, and i'm leaning towards the AP since it's simple, no physically messing with the car, and from what i hear untraceable.

at the end of the day, i'll be paying like $700 for ~52HP. seems kind of steep

I think you have to reevaluate your dollar per horsepower perception. 700 bucks for 52 horsepower is not at ALL expensive.

btw, AP wins

AP will be your best bet for soft mod. If you think $700 is steep for AP then a good CBE will even cost you more with little gain.

Ap all the way. You simply can't go wrong with it. It may be rather expensive to you at first, but it will pay for itself ten fold over time.

what about vishnu reflash? cheaper, and they claim 380bhp. I guess that would mean $500 for 89HP? But most dynos are saying AP and vishnu are actually equal, no?

For the extra $195 i would just pick up the ap. The versatility of the unit is unbeatable when just compared to a flash. You can pull codes, monitor data, switch maps, and most importantly have multiple maps.

Also, tons of tuners can tune ap, as opposed to being locked in with one tuner for the flash.
