Fine by me...everything else broke on mine, mind as well finish her off

This is annoying though, you can tell the difference between pulls. The first pull i would do would always feel held back, then it would disable it self and then it would feel better.

For all we know it is holding some cars back on the dyno as well. Could be a lot more power in our cars for all we know.

yeh but psi doesn't equal tq...

and its tq that breaks stuff..

oh well - who knows what mitsu was thinking... should look in the FSM to see what it says i guess

I agree torque breaks ****, but typically from what I have seen on the X, the more boost you run, the more torque...I know sometimes on the 8/9's you could get a lot more torque without going up in boost, but the X seems different in that respect.

oh sure...

but the X ECU deals a lot in tq numbers, so I find it odd that it just didn't send the tq number to the SAWC ECU instead of boost...

Are we sure it doesn't?

I totally could feel when my car was limiting torque...it sucked. One pull would be like hmmm, feels like i'm pulling a trailer...then the ASC goes off and bam, super power!

What would you need, just Load to see the difference I assume?

Well when I get my new motor up, i would be happy to test it.

Maybe I was just paranoid, but it was very noticeable.

It could have been that the car got more powerful as it warmed up I supposed.

I think it was GST who said the ASC could rob considerable power though.

all the usuals, including TPS and APP... usually the ECU reduces power by pulling back the TPS...

Not me unless I was talking about it with the AWC system and it's on (not off off via the button)

The whole psi based thing makes sense anyway. Since it is for the stability control, it is hitting what the max "accurate" or plausible pressure for the sensor is and turning the asc off because stage 1 of the asc is a reduction in boost. If it can't accurately meter the boost, it can't properly use it to control the stability of the car.
Any think there might be some validity in that theory? I think it is boost based because boost is the object being limited by the first stage of ASC.

tps is being restricted by ASC..

ie the ASC sends a torque modify request to the ECU.

ECU pulls TPS to satisfy that torque modify request.

a by-product of that is boost drops...

i'm sorry to join the conversation late here, but is there a way to disable or fix the light from coming on at high load then? i sometimes hit it while doing freeway pulls in third gear and sometime it doesn't.

Tephra, are you saying that we could be losing power from this since the asc tries to control our torque and pulls torque if we go over the limits? i've tried adjusting my torque limit tables but it still comes on no matter what the values on the torque limit tables are, along with airflow. Even if i hold the ASC button down for 5 seconds and disable everything, it still shows up at high loads. should i be worried?
