i figured it out now, but that always confused me. also sticking with English, im pretty confident aaron will get it sorted. kinda gave into biased opinions that an AP is so much better with an SST.

Why is your forum name JohnBradley, but your signature name is Aaron?

I guess I'm getting confused who everyone is talking about.

Correct. Dude that bought my half of an online business 8 years ago was named JohnBradley. He had an Evo at the time I had a Subaru and signed on here with the name I have used on pretty much every board ever, Hurrikain. When I saw it was gone and figured out who it was I did the next best thing and took his real name.

Initially I was too lazy to get it changed, he doesnt even own an Evo anymore, but if I changed it now it would confuse more people than it would help so its stuck at JB.

I talked to acouple shops that tune only with the AP and i asked my self why would they? The best reason i came up with was if the tuner messed up the ecu (bricked) or couldnt figure out the best tune Cobb has that tuners back. I just cant see spending 600 dollars on the AP. You can get a protune from 200-400 dollars. If you live in the middle of nowhere, alot of excited tuners etune. Also the tephra mods are awesome with ecuflash. Plus tephra will hopefully be coming out with his next mod that will allow us to switch between 8 or so maps!!!! I am sorry but if your tuner isnt doing the job, its not his equipment, its his knowledge. Go to a different tuner.
Unless you build your car to the OTS specs, I would steer clear of them and just get a pro-tune. Ecuflash is cheaper, hardware, laptop, and your first pro-tune will be cheaper than buying an AP. But it really does come down to a matter of convenience. I do believe most of the self-tuners got where they are due to either the cost or the inconvenience of getting pro-tuned. I have flip-flopped a couple of times from Ecuflash and AP and I like Ecuflash better. Tephramod features are where it is at if you are a hands on kind of person. Cobb has great tunes and great service but like it was said earlier they are a bit spendy but they are the "set it and forget it" kind of tuners, no pun intended.

That being said, if Cobb ever decided to price the AP reasonably, they would literally sell a buttload of them, volume makes millions...

I think the AP is priced pretty well for what you get. But that doesn't mean its good value..

IMHO!

I can guarantee, if it was say $400-$500 they would sell them like crack to an addict. They are getting close, but mark my words, when they decide to sell them for $499 or less people will line up for them. Not me, but just saying. Tephra, Tephramod, and the community supporting it is awesome!

Options are always good, else we would all be driving Camrys. You'all need to take 5 minutes every night and pray Tephra does not one day decide he likes Nissans better, or hook up with a demanding girlfriend!

The X already runs on SD....sometimes.

I don't think it would take much to fully convert it, just nobody has been adventurous yet.

its not really necessary.

because the MAF sensor can be scaled easily and the housing can be changed easily its not a restriction like it was on CT9A...
