ecuflash.exe has stopped working
so I downloaded my rom for the first time ever (for me and my car), I'm just browsing through the options under the "Metadata" column, not making any changes or anything, just looking. A few minute or 2 later ecu flash freezes (see pic below). At this point I already saved the rom. So I close it out and start it up again. I open the saved rom, and a few mins later, same thing. I restarted my comp and tried the whole thing again and again, it crashed on me again.
I've had ecuflash open for about 5 mins now without the rom opened and its fine. Seams like its only doing this when I open the rom.
I have a 2011 GSR, using the 2011 xml from Golden's definition site.
Its version 1.42.2595 downloaded from tactrix's website. Its the standard version, not the BETA
anyone know whats going on or how to fix it?

Yes. I tried it on my big laptop and it doesn't crash. But I didn't pull the rom with it, just copied over the rom on a USB drive. But it's a 16" laptop, and the battery dies fast. my netbook would be much better to use for tuning...
is there a way to completely uninstall ecuflash?
I uninstalled it using the uninstall file inthe ecuflash folder, then I cleared out my directories using CCleaner, then defragmented my drive just for giggles, then cleared out my directories again. then reinstalled ecuflash.
when i went to edit my metadata directory, it was the same as what I changed it to from the last install, not what it was default. also, when I clicked file, my stock hex was there, like I've opend it before, see pic.
and yes, it still crashed. I didn't put the right xml file in my metadata folder yet, so it couldn't open the rom file cause it didn't have the correct definitions. so it didn't open anything, but it still crashed a few minute later...

yeh I think your XML definitions are screwed up.
uninstall
delete c:\program files\openecu
reinstall
then check the metadata directory points to the right place.
are you using any "extra" xml's?

I have 2011, so I downloaded the 56890007 xml file from goldenevo.com
I tried running the rom without the xml file and it said something like "rom not defined" or something and never opened the rom

But I have that same XML on my other comp and it works, doesn't crash.
Where else can I get an XML file to work with a 2011? and code to enable mode 23

I'm not home right now, but I made it exactly the same on both computers, I'll post the exact path when I get home
I didn't install ecuflash under programs. There's a guide on the evoscam website and I did it the way it said there. I made a new folder under c drive and directed all the paths there

its working now. I went a little nuts on the reinstall and wiped the drive and reinstalled windows. it seams to be working now.
I'm gonna try to pull the rom off my car tomorrow and see if it still works that way...
