Throwing Exhaust Cam Sensor Code
Throwing Exhaust Cam Sensor Code
My 08 GSR blew up a few months ago. And the build has just been finished. Valves, springs, pistons, rods, on a 2.1L sleeved block.
The car runs, but to my understanding the shop that built it is having an unfamiliar issue with the timing and the exhaust cam position sensor, It has to do with the Ecu learning timing belt stretch and it not liking the new belt if I remember correctly what I was told. Im not sure what code number it is throwing because I dont have the car.
Sorry I cant provide more information about what is happening.
But... can anyone help me understand this better, or has anyone had run into anything similar when doing a new timing belt and/or head work?
It would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

This is what they said:
Code was P0014.
and,
They fully disassembled the MIVEC gear, lubed it all up with assembly lube to make sure it wasn't catching on itself, did the relearn process for the timing chain, doublechecked the solenoids, etc.
Aaron couldn't say exactly what it was that helped specifically because they did everything at once.
Are you having a similar problem?

Something similar has been happening to me however the code i am throwing is the P0017 code. I believe that they are both related to timing chain. I know you said that they had fixed it but how much driving did you do after they fixed it?
I have the 08 GSR with normal bolt ons and it throws the code for a couple days then goes away. It only stays on for about a day or 2. Sometimes after it goes out it doesnt come back until a couple weeks so it seems to have a mind of its own.
I was also doing some research and there is a service bulletin for this code. Is there anyone out there that is having this similar issue?
