When to tune?

I have a stock 12 GSR with a GS 3PBC and a tune by Boostin Performance. Love it, so much better than stock. I'm now looking at getting an ETS TBE, IC, and CAI. Do these items require a new tune or is it optional? I would imagine most of the benefit (i.e. boost) was implemented with the stock tune and that with these parts they wouldn't push much further on the tune.

I plan on a mild/moderate turbo/fuel/clutch upgrade in the spring and was planning to save the second tune for then, unless I should get a tune with the bolt ons and then again with the turbo upgrade.

Yes, I'll ask Boostin too, just curious what others have done.

if you replace your TBE then you will DEFINITELY need a tune...

Agree. If you have had it tuned, and change the exhaust, you run the risk that the tune may go lean. That is the problem, plus all that power you would be missing out on from a more precise tune for the parts fitted

The exhaust may be a problem may not really. Same with the CAI, it will certainly change your MAF readings but maybe not enough to be a problem. It certainly won't be dangerous to drive untuned, but it would be risky to really push it untuned.

Ok, sounds like a tune is in order. Thanks for the replies!

So changing a TBE after a tune is risky ? i was told that anything after the turbo doesn't have any type of affect on it.

Yes, the exhaust can affect a tune just like intake can; it all impacts how the engine flows air.

So let's say you swap out a 3" for another name brand 3" would that somehow affect it to ? Because i know different companies make their exhaust differently (material , bends in different places(or slightly less bent angles)
