It all depends on how the car was treated. My 2008 got replaced at 80,100 miles, I picked it up at 68,000 miles so who knows how the previous owner treated it, I for sure drove my car like I stole it within those 12,000 miles.

I got my 3rd party warranty to cover it. Pretty shocked cause the bill from the dealership said heavily "modified with aftermarket parts with a modified ECU" and they still replaced it. I ended up just paying for the diagnosing and oil change.

If I were you, I would have the dealership inspect it or if you handy enough you can do it your self. If its stretched replace it. I think the bill was just shy of $1,000 from the dealership (parts and labor).

Thanks, what kind of 3rd party insurance did you get??? i got the car with about 13000 miles on it in 2009 @28k and i took it to the track a couple times and other than that i took it easy only getting on it everyonce in awhile, id rather a dealer do it cuz i dont wanna mess with the timing myself.

i was just wondering if there was a set miles to change, thanks again

either before you get the code or soon after. i changed mine right after i got the code which was last week. there is no magic number where every chain will fail. some people stretch their chain within 50k miles. some last over 100k (me). it comes down to how well do you maintain your car on a daily basis.

my car:
2008 gsr with i/tp/uicp/exhaust/pro tune. 114k miles with original engine/tran/clutch.
