so this "tuning" means modifying the ECU thus voiding the warranty?

This is a real shame, as I am very displeased with high RPM performance. Those knocks/bucking/bogging at high RPM are really annoying and shouldn't be in a production car at all...

I like that. I just can't afford to get a X due to my plans on getting a 5th Gen camaro. BUT it's really good to see the EVO X comming along so good when almost no time on the streets.

I'm half surprised (smaller turbo), but half not (better stock intake and exhaust). I'd guess the shorter stroke probably helps with the power at the high rpms too.

The evox seems better and better each day. Maybe with this extra power people might forget about the weight difference.

FWIW, we are not modifying the ECU at all. Just the signals coming into and going out of it. We do this by intercepting a few wires in the ECU harness and feeding them to (and from) our PROcede computer. Easy to do without any cutting and is 100% reversible back to stock.

thanks shiv, perhaps I should come by your shop for a tune at some point

I just read this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...95#post4873092 "how to tune an evo"
And what a fascinating read

Shiv,

Will Xede owners be able to use our units to adapt to the EVO X? Or will we have to buy an updated procede/Xede unit?

Awesome results. Can't wait to see this thing with exhaust/intake/downpipe/intercooler and further tuning maybe even some meth on top wonder if 400whp (dynojet) is capable on this turbo. Guess this thread owned

evox-- We still have some work to do before we have a final product. At this point, it's not much more than an engineering exercise. It's pretty far along, in short time, because of all the work we have done on the BMW 335 PROcede (almost all of which was transferable to the Evo application). So we are off to a good start.

steve_evo-- The quick answer, unfortunately, is no. The Evo Xede was specific to applications that relied on a frequency based MAF. Which the X doesn't have. One of the reasons we started from scratch with the PROcede (which is a completely different system) was that in addition to having many more I/O channels than the Xede, it is also was capable of supporting any MAF or Crank sensor type. This is all configurable through the software and, unlike the Xede, doesn't require different hardware configuration. This is why the same PROcede unit can currently be used in Porsches, BMWs, Lambos, Mazdaspeed 3/6s and EVOs. As well as any new applications that we expect to develop in the future (GT-R, BMW X6, 135, etc,.)

Cheers,
shiv

Shiv, while this thread has your attention I have a question:

You have spent quite a bit of time tuning the bmw 335 engine and now know as much about tuning the evo X engine as anyone- I am planning to either get a 335 or an evo X and planning to just use your product in either one without any other mods.

How do the two engines compare in wheel hp and wheel tq
1) stock for stock;
2) piggyback tuned to the levels achieved at this point in time (just using your piggybacks); and
3) piggyback tune to the potential levels you think will be possible within the next 6 months (again, just using your piggybacks with no other mods)?

Any other info in comparing the performance of these cars would also be appreciated.

thanks much

You guys seriously have to stop taking these threads off-topic. I am personally sick of the X "haters" as much as the next guy, but he hasn't even said anything yet. If you guys are sick of sifting through all the crap the "haters" are posting on the X forums, then don't add to it with crap like this.

Congrats Shiv! Good news.

What are you guys expecting for a full bolt-on 91oct Evo X? (TBE, Intake, tune)

I hope that the Evo X does not stay behind the 335i procede...

Whatever you want to say. If the X can put 400whp on stock turbo (like some tuners are leading people to believe) when no other VIII/IX can, then I'll stand back and claim the X has a superior engine/turbo - mod-for-mod. And if the car can make 900whp on the stock block, then I'll claim that Mits has clearly superceded it's earlier engine generation - the 4G63. Until then.. I'll take Buschur's approach...
