You could probably put a 100 shot of NOS on your car right now and not "feel" any knock or misfires, but who knows what the car is really doing if you're not logging it? Do you even care about your car? No offense, but people like you are the reason that I will never buy a used EVO.
So if he had someone reflash his car like what everyone is doing....leaning it out and advancing timing, it would then be...and I quote "tuned and safe" ??????

Heh. Honestly people have been tuning cars without these stupid *** knock sensors for a long time. You can get on a dyno and watch the torque curve and tell what a motor wants and does not want. I have had EVOs on the dyno that would show zero knock and were very unhappy motors. Take a couple degrees out and the motor picks up power, runs smoother, and oh no...it shows a couple knock counts People are relying on that cheap sensor too much.

I agree with this completely, however it doesn't sound like the OP is even logging or looking at power curves but going by feel only.

If this is untrue, then disregard.

Well, tuning doesn't always incorporate aggressively advancing timing and leaning out the air fuel ratios. It's about bringing balance and reliability into the equation. Preventing overboosting, richening the air fuel ratio where it's too lean and leaning it out where it's too rich, preventing knock, etc. If you think that an untuned, unlogged car is just as safe as a car that's been dyno tuned and logged than give me the name of your shop so I can make sure I never let you work on my car.

Hey sometimes at night when I'm trying to get a piece from my wife while she is asleep I just go off of feel and it hasn't failed me yet. A week ago it delivered a 6lb. 14oz baby girl and I'm going to stick with that method

I agree with you BTW. Until anyone can show that the engine isn't liking what he is doing, there really isn't anything we can say. "Get a tooon dood" responses always get me excited!

ECUTEK tuning will be done at Tuning Technologies next Saturday June 7, 2008.

As of now, I lowered the boost to 29psi and using 100% distilled water for $1.00 a gallon from you local store or 7/11

I've been dying for a tune since I scheduled the car a month ago at Tuning Technologies.

Hopefully I'll hit the 400whp mark on the stock turbo.

I'll keep you guys posted on the results next week, with Dyno plots, and A/F Readings.

Wish me luck.

For HP bragging I would go to TT they use a dyno jet no load dyno,,,For tuning I would use a load bearing dyno ..RRE's dyno (dynopak) puts load on the car,,, Just my 2_cents......

Hey good luck with your tune Archie... don't let the haters spoil your fun. people should remember it is your car and keep their negative comments to themselves. Good luck hitting 400+ whp.

Is water/meth reliable?

Also, how badly does this corrode your engine?
