* goes to strap on a 40R so he can claim he is first in the usa *
A turbo kit is a turbo kit, tuning is tuning... 2 totally different things...

We are very proud that once more with the evo we are the first to put it to the test. Was our evo 8 the fastest or the hottest or the biggest or baddest? No but it was one if not the first to be modded in the states. We just need to tune this... thats it.

Want more proof? Here are more pics, its on the dyno, with the kit, being tuned... the only and the first!

And who said a 40r wasnt the next step???

I hate the placement though...

heat is going to cause trouble in the back there....
dont know why mitsu changed to aluminum blocks either

If you think about the placement it is actually a good idea. The big heavy turbo and manifold sit much further back in the car. Making the balance much better. Not to mention you don't have to have as long of an exhaust, further increasing the balance.

The 4B11 being untested but looked at extensivly, it seems that the 4B11's weaker point is the block not the internals. Being that we will be the first to test the limits of this motor, it should be intresting to see how it holds up under extreem conditions. No one knows but if there was to be a "weaker" point on the 4B11 the semi closed deck would seem to be it. Most likly when your pushing 40 + PSI and a lot of heat...

Semi closed/open deck I dont care, its simply not fully closed... that was my only point, I dont build motors for a living I just try to see how much I can extract from them time will tell with this one

Car is on the dyno now! With 850cc injectors we are making sure drivabilty are perfect then going for the big power!
I will get sheets and numbers later....

Thanks

Hey, I appreciate what you guys are doing, I'm just the kind of guy that's going to call you out on technicalities if you are wrong about something. Either way, if you read that long post by MADFAST, he shows an article about the GM EcoTec 2 liter and how the stock block/sleeves hold up to 750 hp. Also from reading in various forums and magazines I've found that totally open deck (not semi closed deck like the ej25 and 4b11) honda motors can make 700+ hp on the stock block/sleeves with just built internals if the head is securely fastened to the block.

This is of course the main area of concern with any aluminum block engine making big power on big boost (the head separating from the block), and when that happens then the block can distort. Hell you could always get lucky and just blow a head gasket, but that's best case scenario. Since this is most likely the main concern for an aluminum block engine like the 4b11, some ARP head studs should help to make sure that this doesn't happen. Since the block is extremely well reinforced for an aluminum block and the head is fantastic already, I am starting to rethink what the 4b11 might be capable of.

With all the great new features like the rear facing exhaust manifold, 3 bar map sensor, mivec on both cams, twin solenoid BCS system, great new ecu that has many more parameters for properly controlling boost, etc I think that this is going to be one of the best aluminum block engines ever made. I have high hopes for the near future. BTW, if I'm right and you guys pop the head off of the block before anythig else breaks first do I win a cookie?
