Unhappy ****clutch is gone**** need serious advice

Hi all

I have 6K miles and went to the dealer because car was acting weired. Anyway they told me the clutch is starting to slip & need to be replaced and will cost >2k and will not be replaced by warranty. (FYI never launched the car or abused just spirit driving )

Now should i go back to dealer and pay 1800 for same **** or get an aftermarket such as ACT etc.

thanks all

You have no modifications to your car? And you've never launched? I'd take it to another dealership and raise hell, <12K with or without some abuse is totally a defective or inferior clutch.

take it back to the dealer, or at least another one. dont care what you were doing, unless u were driving with the clutch half in all the time then that sounds like a defective clutch. gl

My clutch has smelled since day one... I am just waiting for it to go out.

You need to find a reputable shop in your area... $2k to replace a clutch is insane. We're lucky here to have a independent guy that's really reasonable on work...

An evo X is not a civic si.

I hate to say it but you are probably the one to blame.

I sold my evo viii with an exedy single disc with a lightened flywheel, the guys wife fried it in ONE trip, I repeat, ONE trip... it can be done, and does not have to be a stock clutch.

Now, blame aside, no big deal... your first awd congrats on making the jump over to the darkside, fried clutches happen to a lot of first timers.

I would highly suggest you go to another shop out in town, if you were in my area I would charge you about $500 fluids and all... and that is usually the going rate for a clutch done at a decent shop, so I would do my research... and I would probably go with an ACT, a lot more forgiving for the kind of driver that likes to fry his clutch in 6k miles.

Lastly, could you describe your symptoms? Sometimes dealers are full of ****, there may not be anything wrong.

You are in Illinois?! Just go to Buschur! You can't get any better than that...

And he knows this cause he took your out for a ride. JK

I would go to a different dealer and try my luck. If not go aftermarket.
