Does anyone know when this turbo will be available ?
ATP's site mentions it but no details or pics aside from the one on an engine .

I'd have thought that some of you people would have been kicking Garretts doors in over there to get at it .

Ahh actually it's not going to fit anything except a 10 is it ...
Does the Evo 10 exhaust manifold fit the earlier 4-9 heads or is the X totally different ?

A .

When i was at SEMA, the rough timing was 'Spring 2009'.

The X mani and turbo are complete different than the VIII/IX. Essentially everything is a mirror image. The X manifold probably would bolt up, but then your compressor housing is on the passenger side and the exhaust on the drivers side.

This may be a little OT but it is related .

I'm not familiar with the altered layout of Evo 10's compared with say 6-9 so I gather Mitsi has turned the turbocharger around and the air and exhaust plumbing is now opposite to the earlier versions .

If people are going to a lot of effort to alter plumbing/turbos etc in Evo 6-9's I suppose it wouldn't make much difference which way round things were provided everything matched as a set or kit .

Just for the record is the Evo 10's engine/gearbox the same way around as 4-9 or have they done an about face like they did from 3-4 .

Manufacturers love to change things and often just to be a little different , I suppose at least they can finally lose the reverse rotation turbocharger which was always an orphan .

Actually that reminds me , I did read somewhere that there is going to be a "poverty pack" Lancer turbo AWD but in a lower (cheaper) spec than the Evo and with a single scroll turbocharger , I wonder how similar the base mechanicals will be ?

Cheers A .

Yup, regular rotation now. Mitsu did the engine layout pretty much how every transverse 4-clyinder is now, exhaust against the firewall and the intake up by the radiator side. This is beneficial from a power and emissions standpoint: less exhaust plumbing, straigher exhaust plumbing, shorter distance from the exhaust ports to the cat enabling faster lightoff, and the heavy turbo/exhaust manifold mass closer to the middle of the car.

The new Ralliart is the lower spec Lancer you're thinking of. It has the IX drivetrain, the X engine with a smaller/single scroll turbo, and the regular Lancer chassis. So none of the lightweight goodies of the Evo chassis, narrower track width than the Evo, etc.

Ahh wants to see that turbo - well the turbine housing anyway .
We on down under island want lots of pics of the housings (0.73 and 0.94) off the turbo if possible , if anyone can design a generic mounting flange adapter we can - provided of course Garrett don't come to the party with something that would sell in their squillions - like a twin entry T3 flanged version of that turbine housing .

Twin scroll twin integral gate turbine housings , every road car should have one ...
The beginning of wow and the end of lag .

It's a stock replacement turbo. It interchanges directly with and looks nearly exactly like a stock Evo X turbo. Put a stock Evo X turbo under a microscope and you can start making all the flanges you want right now.

Righto thanks Jason , I'll look for pics of the std Evo 10 turbo to get a bit of an idea .

It's hard to tell from pics of the Garrett turbo but the kneck or distance from it's mount flange to the housing itself looks quite short so it may lend itself to adapter extensions .

If anyone has close up and personal pics of an Evo 10 turbos turbine housing can you post them please .

Cheers - and thanks , Adrian in Aust .

Here is a link to some up close hi res poics of EVOX turbine housing that has been ported and prepped for use in a FP Red for EVOX turbocharger.

From the looks of it so far, it doesnt seem like this GT30 turbo is going to be a "January February" sort of thing. Still no samples out to people for testing yet that I know of.
