EVOL2003, I was refering to the factory internals being stronger in the 4b11 than in the 4g63 (which is well documented), not the block itself. The point, whether it came across correctly or not, was that many evo 9 guys talk smack about aluminum blocks when they themselves are only making like 350 at the wheels, and the 4b11 can clearly handle what they are currently making and a lot more so it's a moot point for them anyway.

Without having a sleeved and built block, the 4b11 will not be able to handle 1000 hp like the 4g63 can. There is no disputing this, but many aluminum block engines like the GM ecotec 2.0 liter can handle like 600+whp on the stock block/stock sleeves with just upgraded pistons and rods, so I'd say the 4b11 would most likely be the same range if not higher.

I just think that people need to quit focusing on aluminum vs iron, because aluminum blocks have gotten much stronger and more advanced over the years and are now very good options for a boosted motor. Sorry if my first post didn't correctly illustrate what I was trying to say, so hopefully this clears things up.

is what you call "technical"...

The 4B11 is really a piece of work and I am not hating but it has quite a bit of proving itself to go before a statement like yours should be made or listened to.

For starters, there have been a number of tests that have shown the 4b11 handling power levels on the stock pistons and rods that are higher than what many 4g63s have cracked the stock pistons at. Tear down tests from AMS, AGP, and TOMEI have shown the pistons, rods, and rod bolts to be stronger than the 4g63's (along with many other improvements in durability and heat management), so I fail to see how this isn't technical and factually based. God, I swear it seems like no one can cite the improvements of the 4b11 without being accosted by 4g63 supremacists. In any case, read the post I made above your's and you'll see what I was trying to get at in the first place.

You post some links for others to view, you know with the testing your referencing. That would be informative.

How you took my comment as accosting you is a little silly.

stronger internals but weaker block...kinda defeats the purpose imo.

i still dont understand what you mean by the bolded part of your post. especially the "a lot more " part.

the cars seem pretty even to about 400 hp mod for mod
no hard feeling though

I wasn't refering to you directly when I said accosted, but rather the general 4G63 fanbase on evom. In any case, many of the tests that I am refering to are based on conversations with tuners and shop owners regarding the average popping point of 4g63s on their dynos and that so far, every X that has been modded and tuned on their dyno to those power levels and even higher have been fine so far, so that's something. There were also a couple discussions regarding this here on evom, and I'll try to find some links for you. Happy now?

Just because a block is aluminum doesn't mean it is inherently weaker.... F1 uses aluminum blocks...

I think the 4b11 is going to put the 4g63 to shame once given a chance.... the combusion chamber is soo much better, and really that is what counts the most..

So if its using an aluminum block it just means that its just as strong as a regular block but lighter. I could have swore thtas what I heard that this motor was based off of the 4G63 but made better and lighter. I could be wrong cuz Im not a motor guru like you guys but I try.

Nobody knows the answer until we push the limits of the new aluminum block.. I am going to go on record and say NEVER will the 4b11 be as stout as the 4g63.. Maybe ill eat my words, well see..

Well maybe the 4G63 is a motor prodigy like toyotas 2JZ so hopefully you wont have to eat your words but you never know. Pretty sure mitsu wouldnt give us a crappy motor to top the 4G.

Nobody said the 4b11 was crappy but mitsubishi didnt come out with a 200+Lb heavier Evo to focus on drag racing.. They already screwed us as far as i am concerned by having to sleeve the motor.. Added costs, possibilities of bad machine work and Dropped / Shifted sleeves means more headache IMO..

Evo was never built with drag racing in mind, ever...

That is not what the car was made for, plain and simple.
