Ecuflash has full control over the stock bcs, why spend money on an aftermarket setup?

I believe the tuners have only recently gained real understanding of how the ECU-controlled boost leveling works. Early on in tuning the X, a MBC was simply easier.

It may still hold some advantages over the ECU setup, but I think more recently-tuned cars are more likely to control it electronically.

I made 325hp and 345tq totally stock with just a jestr tune, on the stock bcs. Run whatever you want I don't care, but i'm saying from experience, a mbc will cause overboost in 5th and I hated that I couldn't give it too much gas when passing someone on the highway. If the stock bcs will allow you you to reach your target boost level...why run something else??

i didnt Know they had problems in 5th thats good to know thats why i made this thread. So even if I got an electric one like the AEm boost controller you think that would give the same or the same problems??? or would that be more safe

To manipulate and control boost more efficiently. Hopefully, a tuner will weigh in on the issue. Whether it be a boost pill, mbc or an alternate means of boost control anything at this point is better than the 100% stock boost control. The proof is in the data that has been presented many times over on this forum.

Why use a MBC/EBC if you can get a protune and have the ECU control boost? Waste.

+1. Atleast someone agrees. GST motorsports sells that pill which seems to work great when combined with a flash.

If your running stock turbo, run manuel boost controller. I recommend thr tru boost controller for high and big turbo cars.

Everyone is going to have there preference, but no one will explain why. I ran a mbc for while and i was conatsntly adjusting. It seemed like it would never stay consistent. Also, in 5th, you couldn't give it very much gas for too long or else it would oveboost. I think a mbc has no place on a car with such complex electronics such a the evo x. If something oem can give you the boost you want with some simple tuning, then why would you not use it?

If you want the best boost controller, get the Apexi AVC-R 2. If you dont have experience with tuning and dont need to adjust the boost, have it done with an ECU flash like Morris said. Most people dont need to and shouldnt mess with their boost levels, easy way to cause problems.

Agreed. Plus, I like to know that my boost control is tied into the ECU if the car were to ever enter limp mode.
