Looks like a nice exhaust. Though, please note that there is no O2 housing on this exhaust. Thus its only kind of a turboback. Testing has shown that on high boost or upgraded turbo, the O2 housing opens up a lot of power, and with this exhaust you wont be able to switch to an UR or AMS downpipe/o2 without also buying a new test pipe. Its all about what your plan is. If you're not going for max power, then this is definately a nice deal.
i got the Perrin TBE for around 1100 on sale. its dual tip unlike some of the ones posted i see in this link. i love the sound of it. its nice and quiet until i really step on it. glad wit the choice that i made
if i get the GReddy Spectrum Elite Catback Exhaust for my X, and get a GReddy downpipe, will that be considered a turboback to be used with the COBB AP Stage 2 that requires turboback??
i know, very noob question to ask lol

this is what i'm getting:
magnaflow catback - $450 shipped (+$75 to have a local shop change out the 2.5" flange and pipe for the 3" one) so that's $525
used extremeboost o2 housing/dp external dump - $335 shipped
ultimate racing mini muffler testpipe - $250
so that's $1110 for a tbe
*under 1k if you stick with the 2.5" flange on the magnaflow catback.

You never heard my car before!? I think there might be a dyno of my car on youtube, but I would try to track down Mike with the red Evo X. I think he has a perrin tbe. I really like my perrin tbe. It makes a nice deep sound, very mellow, slight drone between 70-80mph and that comes and goes (that was my experience driving from Ft Hood to Ft Jackson). My wife is really picky about exhaust noise and really likes it too.
invidia n1/q300 are NOT turbo-back exhaust, which is what OP is asking about. No DP, no turbo-back. The dp/o2 frees up a decent about of power, especially once you start heavily modifying the car. It's worth the money to get the dp/o2. Ultimate Racing is the cheapest of the 'quality' turbo-back systems. AMS/Perrin/ETS are all good, though more expensive. Choose what you want. Myself, I have UR turboback.
As with all modification it is a balance. It depends what the context of the modifications are and the end game you have in mind. IF you just want an exhaust then get the best you can for the 1k you have. My suggestion was based on the OP having 1k for exhaust mods with little else in mind. Therefore as the CAT is the biggest restricition so go after replacing that along with a GOOD quality exhaust which is good quality and isnt too obtrusive.
IF you want an exhaust in PREPERATION for other mods such as BETTER FUEL or BIGGER TURBO then get the kind of exhaust that may BENEFIT WHEN COUPLED WITH THOSE FOLLOWING mods. So coupled with a bigger tubro or Race gas you may make a worthwhile advantage out of fitting an O2 housing.
The O2 housing / DP on the EvoX is not very restictive for a stock turbo / pump gas. It is not worth the comprimises elsewhere in spend to change these items.
i want to get the GReddy Spectrum Elite Catback Exhaust. what are some suggestions of what to get to make it a turboback? just downpipe/o2? or do i need a test pipe as well. help would be greatly appreciated my dudes.
So i got my Apex'i ECV today, and probably will put it on today as well. The difference between the flange type and piping type is that the flange type is literally a flange with a valve (flapper) in it. You just slide it inline of your existing piping.
The "piping type" actually requires you to cut up and weld the valve into your exhaust. Not ideal for me. I'll post up pics and clips of the install.

right now Ultimate Racing has a great deal on their Turboback exhausts. starting at $750, you get to choose from any of their downpipes, cat pipes, and catbacks. i would go for the O2 downpipe (long), mini-muffler test pipe, and the dual catback. here's a video of how that setup sounds:
