EVO X 5 Speed failures and solutions
ok so i was drivng my car, didnt really lauch it just took of fast from a low roll and took it out of first and it wouldnt go into any gear for a while, then finally it went into gear but when i push the clutch nothing would happen.
I actually could have the clutch fully engaged and give the car gas and the car would take off like the clutch wasnt even pushed in. So finally about 10min driving back to my house the clutch started to engage again but every time i push the clutch in it makes a really bad grinding sound from the tranny. Is this the pins, and is this fixable?
P.S. if i dont use the clutch to shift then it goes into gear and goes fine but when i push in the clutch is when get gets that grinding sound. Do you think maybe its just the clutch?

Hey David let me ask you this please.
1. how hard are these to change out?
2. If I dont plan on launching much, but plan on Auto-X eventually would these be viable to get?
3. With these pins installed is the surrounding pieces strong enough to now hold the new pins that wont break?
Thanks a lot man for this research and all you put into it!

I have been running over 400whp for 6+ months with no problems. Now I am at closer to 500whp and everything is fine. There are plenty of people that are running 500+whp on the stock diffs. I am not saying don't worry about it because stuff can always break when you are making that much power but I am saying lots of people are pushing the X and it's holding together just fine.
I had sent my diff into Buschur to get the new pins several months ago. My EVO X has 411whp and I beat my car all the time. Now I DO NOT do any launches for the fear of my rear diff blowing but I do abuse my car and have yet to have the center diff rebuilt by Buschur blow. They do good work and I highly recommend them. The turnaround time was good as well. They are good people to work with.
