need help with nisei intake pipe install

Ok so I just installed my nisei intake pipe and I got a question, everything worked out ok except there was one hose:

that was attached here on the stock pipe:

I had NO idea what to do with it and since this didn;t come with directions I'm stumped. This is what I did can anyone tell me if this is wrong?:

thanks!

also any suggestions on where to mount the breather hose with the cone filter on the end?

That won't work man,

That line is the boost solenoid vent line. Stuffing the two end together like that means that your boost solenoids cannot vent pressure away from the wastegate.

Just go back to how it was in the fist picture with the two lines t'd together and the single outlet just hanging. You don't need to run it to anything, just leave the end open so the air can be vented.

Mind is just open like that, it was just sucking air in from the intake previously, so leaving it open you are just doing the same thing except sucking air from the engine bay... So just leave it unplugged how you originally had it.

Thanks a bunch! Out of curiosity where did you guys put the breather hose with the cone filter on it?

I put a catch can mounted on an "L" bracket next to my airbox, using an airbox mount hole. Since you don't have an airbox any more, you can easily mount one there. Run hose to can, put filter on vent side.

You need to put a bung on the intake pipe and route the breather back to it. I know a lot of people just like to pull the hose off and stick a filter on there but this is not ideal. You need a constant vacuum source on the valve cover vent hence why from the factory it is routed back to the intake, because there will always be a vacuum there when you are under boost.

Also, the line you originally asked about is the vent line for the solenoids. I don't think it sucks in anything, rather it vents the air / pressure away from the wastegate actuator, unlike what others have mentioned.

Ideal fix--put a bung on the intake pipe. Directions with AMS intake say to leave it as you have in top pic. I know you don't have AMS, but they leave it open for those who don't pay to have the bungs installed.

When my buddy got his car tuned, they put a bung on his AMS intake as mad VIII said.

FYI these intake kits are now coming with that blue-purple hose for the breather. The black are on back order from their supplier Hose Techniques. One is 10mm ID and other is 6mm ID.

I was really disappointed when mine came with that fugly tubing. I've since swapped them out for some OTS Good Year hoses I picked up at Autozone.

I am wondering why they don't add the bungs on the intake pipe in the first place so you can restore it to stock like conditions. I have both of mine just left unconnected, one with the valve cover filter and the one on the solenoid just sittin there like in the picture. I am sure you could connect the valve cover filter breather directly onto the valve cover bung instead of having it on a tube... Somebody should ask them why they are like this when every other intake pipe on the market is like the stocker.

Agreed. I'm thinking of having bungs welded on and running a recirculating catch can to handle the crankcase vapors. It looks sloppy and ricer having hose disconnected everywhere and one with a silly little filter on it. That and the **** engineer in me doesn't like VTAing metered air from the BCS.

I took the plastic nipple off and put a tiny hole in the hose that runs from the blow off valve to the turbo inlet and shoved the line in there.

Yeah, thought about doing that. Any driveability issues or weirdness since doing it?
