ETS Mitsubishi Evolution X - Revs 9k on new motor!

Hey Guys,

I will post up a full review tomorrow. Here is a little teaser video of the car revving 9k!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9fhRqKCfF0

We made 566whp at 24psi tapering down to 23psi on pump gas. The car is still rich on the top end, so 600whp is not out of the question on pump gas. We plan to put race gas in the car and turn up the wick!

Here are the mods.

ETS Evo X HTA3586 Turbo Kit
ETS 5.0" Intercooler Kit
ETS Test Pipe
ETS V2 Catback w/ Quad Tips
Garage GT AEM Piggy Back
HTA3586 w/ .82 Exhaust Housing
GSC S2 Evolution X Cams
Cosworth Pistons
Cosworth Rods
Coated ACL Bearings
ARP Head Studs
Ferrea Valve Train
Stock Fuel Pump w/ Walbro 255 Inline
RC1200cc Injectors w/ Resistor Box

Thanks!!

Michael

Hey my engine does that too woohoo!

I'm interested to see the end product on race gas.

BTW did you guys perform any port work on the head, and if so what gains did you see in terms of cfm flow rate increase?

You can go leaner out the top safely. Its all relative to overall combo, but its more common than you'd imagine.

You actually want it to be richer at peak torque and can get away with slightly leaner up top towards redline.

For a stock EVO X motor, whats the safest rev limit you would recommend? Stock rev limit or can you get away with slightly higher?

Most people have it raised to 8k; stock is 7600, although there is no real need to on a STOCK turbo because it runs out of juice by then.

What exactly do I need to change on my engine to get it rev to 9k? It is just the valves and springs?

Lol you dont need to change anything but your rev limiter to rev 9k!

But it won't last very long.

But on a serious note yes your cams/springs need to be replaced.

Your bottom end will hold up but the question is for how long?

Be careful when increasing your rev limiter , you will almost always create weakness/stress elsewhere in your engine. i.e.- rods, bearings, crankshaft.
