regardless, the atp g35r kit is nowhere near the class of the kits I'm looking at, and costs almost the same amount. why even consider it?

I hate those low class Garrett parts, oh wait 3 out of 4 listed turbos are made by Garrett.

Whatever you do don't oversize your purchase unless you can live with the later RPM turbo response. If you are building your engine for a 9000 rev limiter then maybe the HTA 86R will be ok, otherwise the HTA 82R is about as big as I would go.

Because simpler is often times better? Uses one of the stock water lines, stock oil feed line, stock brackets/supports, stock heat shielding...

That should eliminate any reliability concerns related to heat management or cracking manifolds. Just because it's not as 'bling' doesn't mean it's not of the same class. There's a reason why FP's and Blouch's direct replacement turbos for Evos and WRXs are popular.
