could be your turbo.. did u see any smoke come out..?

 

it could be the turbo, but there is no smoke coming out of the exhaust. When your on the throttle, about 3500-5000 RPM you hear this whoosing wind coming from the engine area. Almost like a tube is not connected or something, but again all hoses etc are 100% on.

 

If you have never heard the bang again, that bang was prolly an IC pipe coming off.

I was in my buddy's VW when we heard the same bang and we lost total boost. The lower IC had come off. Check the LICP where it meets the throttle body. You prolly would have seen it by now if it was off. Check that none of the IC pipes are cut.. They maybe on but they maybe cut.. Who knows? .. Sounds like you are going through a nightmare. I sympathize. Wish you the best.

 

if the I/C pipe came off, the car would run like crap. It drives absolutely awesome, just acts as it does not have a turbo.

Nah, I bet the exhaust side turbine is shot because a piece of metal went through the turbo...

Haha I told you so That bang is unmistakable especially when you are at 28psi and it comes off. I bet you that turbo air noise sounded badass while driving around with the UICP off

 

lol it was weird to hear the air rushing sound lol. It didnt look like the UICP came off. I know on the VIII I had once one of the pipes came off the car wouldnt work at all lol. Now I know!!!!!!!

Good Find! We always recommend a boost leak test. Small leaks can be the biggest PITA!
