I heard awhile back that clutches should normally last about 8 to 9 years also depending on the way it's driven

I have 52k on my stock clutch, its not slipping, but the engagement point is very, very high up on the pedal. Time for me to start looking around for a new one

2008 GSR, 43,xxx and swapped it out. The sock clutch FELT like it had some life left, never launched, driven spiritedly, but when the clutch came out it looked pretty beat. I went with the Competition Clutch Stage 3+. Purchased a Spec Stage 2+ also (will be for sale) but didn't use it.

Just over 94k on my '08 and the clutch still feels like it has plenty of life left. Never launched hard, and can only remember 2-3 times that I've ever smelled faint "clutch" smell. I've been running a perrin stage 1 and later cobb stage 1 map since about 7k miles.

For those of you not having issues with stock clutch did you remove the restrictor pill/delay valve? I notice that when in traffic and trying to turn left while taking it easy on the clutch can be scary but if you boot it, the clutch start to smell.

Nope - Mine is still in place. I used to hit rush out traffic every day on my way home (for about 3.5 years at my old job). It was only about 5 miles... but it generally took me 45 minutes or so to get out of. Never had any issues - I actually think my X was pretty easy to drive in stop and go traffic for what it is. I just stayed off the gas for the most part. I certainly wouldn't want to drive it (or any manual car for that matter) in a city where stop and go was the whole trip.

38K and finally gave way. My fault though launched the car 7 times at the wannagofast.com 1/2 mile event last weekend in Chicago. Car was at 305WHP/325WHT on AMS's Mustang from 500 miles to 20k. Than 441/350 VD AND 410 on Boostin Performances Mustang Dyno till 38K. Car did run consistent 140-143 in a standing 1/2 mile : ) with a slipping clutch. Exedy Twin HD goes in today!

For anything but a stock evo you'd want an aftermarket clutch that can handle the extra power. They are made of different materials that will last longer. Most will make daily driving a little more difficult as slip will lessen, but the bite is worth it

58k all stock and never launched it. The other day I was thinking the engagement point was pretty high, but I am not sure if its just that I never really thought about it. Still holds fine as far I can tell. No slipping.
