Has anyone installed the Synapse Synchronic BOV with an AMS setup? i.e. CAI/LICP

Just got one today and would like some pointers if any...

just tried to install and realized that the silicon couplers/tubes are to big for the bov to fit on. Errrr thought this would be a simple install with a tune right after guess not... any tips? I was thinking about using the STOCK silicon tubes that went with the stock bov? but doubt it will fit the the AMS setup I have.

Im running the Synapse with an AEM cold air, still using the stock bypass valve line so its kinda in the back (its a little loose in the hose, but the clamp holds strong enough i havent had a problem with any air leakage.) and i had to tape over a few clamps that kept scratching the hell out of it , pcv line, but its working great
and i loveeeee the hard line that was sent with it, it looks awesome and prevents any leaking when you have to split the line 1 to 2, I couldnt find a place to screw in the adapter to make the whole line a hard line, but attached it to the stock bov line by the throttle body.

what hard line are u talking about? I purchased mine from Modern Automotive Performance and it only came with the weld on flange and another adapter. I didn't get no air lines/vaccum lines or this so called hard line. Am I missing parts?

I'm probably going to buy this BOV as well but I wanted to know if I'll need a tune afterwards. Not thread jacking but this saves me making a post about this BOV. I'm curious to know what I'll need to do to install this myself so this thread should help.

Just finished installing the Synchronic BOV by Synapse. Here is what happend during install. I have the AMS CAI and UICP/LICP, when installing I realized the Silicone tubes from AMS was to large for it to fit properly on the bov. Even if I used a worm clamp or t-bolt clamp there would have been a gap for a leak it just didnt fit right even with the clamps. So inorder to fix the problem I used the STOCK rubber tube that was connected to my stock bov. If your not sure what im talking about its the rubber tube thats about 1-2 feet and bent in someways. Anyhow I cut this tube in peices to make it fit the Synchronic BOV. I then attached the vaccum lines and T'ed off Port A and Port B on the Synchronic BOV.

After installing I took my EVO out for a spin. On WOT car feels smooth no surgeing or hesitating/jerking the sound even sounds good for a recerc bov.

On Half throttle/lightly giving it gas and increasing speed I noticed the BOV surging, and the car jerking/hesitating. Im pretty sure this is from not having a tune after BOV installation. If im wrong please correct me.

Here are some pics of install:

Almost forgot while driving around and testing etc. etc. No codes or CEL's popping up.

If installation looks incorrect please tell me. However im pretty sure I installed it correctly. I am a bit worried with the Half throttle issue im having, but then again Im pretty sure this is due to not haveing it tuned after install. Hopefully I can get my EVO tuned after I get back from the field.

hmm well after looking around idk why i got a hard line kit with it, other than the possibility of it coming with the Evo adapter or the Anti-stall valve kit, i know the line probably wouldnt come with just the BOV because it couldnt fit in its little red box

At partial throttle, this bov flutters a little. I dont think it's a big deal though. Probably the sound you are hearing.

Is that a universal fact with this BOV or just your experience. I am going to have it replace my Stock BOV this week hopefully and will be going in for a Tune. Will it still do it?

I realized that around 10psi accelerating the car DOES jerk. Hopefully Devin from Synapse can give some input on that.

to OP: where did you source the "tee" you used for the line a + b?

Devin from synapse here!

to the OP the piece you used to T or Y off the line loks a bit odd.. i think using a Y fitting would give more a more equal balance of vacuum to the valve ports.

Inci9nito99 try loostening the preload a tad.. im assuming you are running on ports A+B

^^ I sent in mine to get the c-port removed by you . the preload was never touched, but I presume the only "fix" around the situation is the obvious, loosen the pre-load.

ps. where can I source a Y fitting, cant seem to find one ANYWHERE that is non-quick disconnect. :strange:
