5 speed problem

I have a 2010 gsr with 3600 miles on it other than a short shifter its completely stock. sometimes when i try to shift to 3rd or 5th it would be hard to push it in like something is blocking it. Im pushing tthe clutch to the floor when shifting and it happens whether its cold or not. I dont know whats the problem.

Did you properly lubricate all pivot points when installing the shifter?

Ive got a 2008 5 speed, and I it has always been a little notchy going into 3rd, my short shifter helped out a little bit with it.

How commonly does this happen? I've had a number of manual cars, and they've all done this at one point or another, but it wasn't a constant occurrence.

If it only started with the SS install, I think it's fair to say something got messed up. Either it's hitting something if things are aligned just right, or as others alluded to it's not lubricated properly. Suspect the new part in the system.

manuals almost always have quarks, especially 5 spd's.

nissan had a 5th gear pop out issue on sr20ve trans' and almost all 5spds most commonly, gm has issues with going into reverse. my '90 prelude has trouble with 3rd and reverse. point is all of em do it.

but as gizmotov said if i started with the SS install then thats the cause. if its minor stuff it'l most likely come and go with wear in to start, and when it wears out later on. if its non stop and big issue id haul it over to mitsu asap and throw a fit (always gets things done faster, and dont feel bad for the mechanic, most of us expect it) or at least they did when i was one 2 years ago lol

Have you grinded during shifting at all? With clutch and transmissions, thing can go really bad even with one bad scenerio depending on what happens.

Hope it isn't something you caused and they back up their warranty. I would have put the stock shifter back in though.....DEFINITELY.

slo4g63 has a point on the whole putting the stock shifter thing back in depending on how **** the dealer is.

but that being said if you did that or if their not complete ruh-tards they should def warranty it if they dont pitch a fit seriously. regardless of how you drive it, its stock= they need to honor the warranty
