Low compression and engine tapping

Low compression and engine tapping

I did a compression test and got from left to right (110,85,110,120) I'm not sure if its (1,2,3,4) from left to right or the other way around. But the tapping gets louder when I rev and accelerate. I'm not burning oil or antifreeze. When I put a cap of oil in the cylinder and re-did the test it jumped to 95 psi, only 10 psi difference. I recently got my car back from getting a tune and got 401 awhp and 365 awtq with no knocking. I'm running the Blouch Dom 2 and meth kit @ 30 psi. The tapping and ticking has been goin on for awhile now and I'd like to find out why, its not the injectors either. Please help!

Seeing as you are running meth, you probably cracked a piston or a ring. See how the guys at AWD motorsports feel about meth in the 8/9 section.

Regardless, I'd say you are looking at some big $ to fix this, hopefully just in labor.

i'd say a piston probably like hollywoods . just go slow no boost for now and get it checked out asap.

Well I'm crossing my fingers thats its not anything major. But I'm gonna go ahead and take the head off this weekend to see what's really going on.

i thought you made 401 on 25psi? if it was on 30psi, then yea, you were loosing some serious power this whole time, not just after the tune.


and yes, schedule a leakdown test, or take that head off an prepare for bad news. in teh mean time, turn your boost down to 19-20 psi and stop racing!

Likely a busted piston... the tapping you hear is probably combustion gases forcefully leaking down into the crankcase. Your oil is contaminated if this is the case - I wouldn't drive the car at all if you want to save the engine from spinning a bearing or otherwise ruining itself.
