New Exhaust and car is a smoke bomb

New to turbo cars so don't know that much about the tuning and behaviors down to a science. But I know evo x run rich stock and on a ww u see it all over then back. Yesterday just installed a Invida Q300 and started it up and black smoke not blue. Also while driving, mostly in high rpms. Is this a big problem? And how could i fix this, and how much will it cost?

Definitely normal since like you mentioned they run very rich from the factory. I'm assuming you're not tuned. When you throw on some more parts, go ahead and get yourself a tune, and it should help with some of that black smoke.

I'm assuming you mean accessport, but actually you'll probably still experience some smoke with that as well. The OTS maps are known to also run rich as well. Your best bet is a protune.

You will still get a fair amount of smoke in the lower rpm's if you roll into it in say 3rd even with a protune. I have a test pipe which just makes it worse. Theses car's are just very sooty. I got some nice fireballs from mine on the dyno on my 93 protune and there was a noticeable cloud of smoke when on the gas. This was with 11.7-11.8 on the wideband at WOT.
