FP Red, Green or Black?

Hey guys, I really need some input on my turbo decision. Can you guys lay down the differences of the turbos and which suppoting mods do i need to support the turbo, e.g. size of injectors, fuel pump and anything else other then bolt ons?

My goal is around 420-450 with the setup of cold air intake, fmic, upic and turbo back exhaust.

I really appreciate this guys.

Thanks

you will need more additional modification to truly justify the use of any of the turbo's you listed.. IMO.. starting from tbe to engine internals + drivetrain.. (clutch) + fmic.. and other supporting mods that I can't think of right now..

I would do not in any order. clutch, new mc, cams, manifold, 3-port, injectors, fpred, and a new tune you should be good with that.

For your stated goal I would say either the fp-red or the cbrd bbx Both are very good turbos.

I would recommend the red with cams. You should be able to hit your goals with that combo.

I had a red on my IX with cams and supporting mods...To hit 420-450 hp on a mustang dyno you'll probably need to spray or go alternate fuel..E85 or race gas..It's a high boost turbo..I hit close to 400 on stock internals at 24 psi...I wasn't a fan of the turbo lag though..It hits hard at 4k..

Not sure if the turbo functions differently on the X or not..I'd like to hear some feedback on this topic as well

I was originally thinking the black, but i know the red spools well. Maybe a red would be the better idea, ideally i didn't want to cam, well at least not yet. I'm even hoping my stock clutch will run with just the FP Red. What do you guys think?

Besides your power goals with the car, what do you intend to use the car for? Daily driving, auto x, drag, etc? The future plans you have for the car definitely will play a factor in which turbo and supporting mods you should look into.

Black would be sweet. It doesn't spool too much worse than a red

Cams really make the red shine. Not that I think you'd be dissapointed without them, but in that case you might as well get the green, get earlier spool, and don't worry about cams and valvetrain upgrades. You'll be in 400+whp range anyway. Look at the mods in my sig and power at the bottom. Nothing is ported and I'm on stock cams.

The Green is the smallest of the three? My intent is to use the car as a daily driver through the warmer months. There will be the odd track day but no Ryan Gates stuff lol. I intended on the black originally purely because of the gains. I didn't really want to cam the car as i cammed my old Evo x with stage one Kelfords. The gains were great just the timing wasn't. I'm not appose to camming again but if the turbo will get me to the goals intended then i will go that way.

Let me know your guys in put thanks.

Looking at your sig that would be a great goal. Can you tell me exactly how the green runs for you? Any issues?

A green with a manifold and supporting mods should get him there with no lag right? I am in the same boat but i am looking for 390 ft*lbs since torque is what kills motors.
