Are the fluids for the transmission the same as the fluids for the transfer case and rear differential?
I have an Evolution 4, and the service manual states that I use 75/85 Dia Queen Gear Oil for the transmission, and that I use Dia Queen Super Hypoid Gear Oil rated GL-5 for the transfer case and rear diff.
I know I don't have to use the Mitsubishi brand Dia Queen, but I am stuck as to whether to get 2 different oils for the trans and the transfer case and rear diff. Is there a huge difference? Or am I best just to do what the manual says?

Thanks in advance

Also, apologies, I just realized these are the Evo X forums

What 2 oils would you recommend, and how much per bottle/liter?

thanks

I thought the mt-85 was the correct fluid from redline to use for the evo x. I know people like to use the cocktail but didn't redline make the mt-85 match oem specs?

In fact, I just bought 3 quarts from Amazon, @ $50. I'll let you know how it works in a five speed IX.

This is good to hear, as I just bought 3 quarts of Redline MT-85 for my 03 Evo, which just clicked 111,000 miles on the odo. The previous owner used standard 75W-85 Gear oil mixed with lucas, so lets just say the trans isnt a happy camper shifting in 30* weather. Cant wait to get mine changed now.

Mine practically crunches when the car's cold, doesn't like to go into reverse right away. I'm hoping that regular changes with the MT-85 help resolve both.

Amsoil has worked great for me so far. Just changed it 1 month ago for the second time. When warm, this fluid makes shifts feel extremely smooth. However, I do now let my car warm up for a few minutes before driving in 30 deg or below weather because cold Amsoil does make the car a bit notchy.
