Anyone use valvoline vr1 Non synthetic
#16
im looking at changing oil soon currently running mobil 1 in my X. the car will be tracked once or twice a month (~350whp) and weather over here is usually between 50F-105F. i don't run a cat and with regular service intervals around 4-4500miles would VR1 10w40 racing oil ("synthetic enhanced"-mineral oil) be a good choice (film strength, heat resistance on track)? its less than half the price of mobil 1 0w-40...

Ressurection..... Why does nobody mention Valvoline Synpower i see alot of vr1? Would Synpower be a bad choice, it seems like the worse choice is not changing your oil at all obviously. Anyone want to chime in on synpower?

Some people want more zinc and phosphorus that's why they choose vr1. Synpower is probably going to be the same as most other synthetics like kracka said. But they all contain different blends of additives.

I change oil every time when I run. My question is, if you run in 1/4 mile like three times and you not use the car for daily drive, How often do you need change oil in that case? My last change was on december (4th-8th), until now my oil maybe has around 300 km (190 miles).. I have some a race this month on January 21th, do I need make a oil change??

Oil never loses its lubrication properties. But it does lose its additives like detergents and zinc & phosphorus.
How old is your motor, how much power, what type of fuel, what filter all come into play.
I really don't know how long the additives will last under those conditions.
After running your car send a sample of your oil to a lab to see how it looks. Im sure you could keep your same oil for a little bit.

You seriously want to change your oil after 190 miles?
Interesting read tho, I think I'll try that VR-1; can't beat $5/quarts, I already do oil changes at 2.5-3k
